With a sparkling stream winding its way through the garden, this cottage really does feel like a wonderfully tranquil and relaxing refuge. It’s a dream for families and couples looking to immerse themselves in the Welsh countryside and get away from it all. Active guests will love all the walking and cycling trails nearby at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains and beach lovers can explore the miles of sandy beaches on offer at Tywyn a 13-mile drive away. The Tywyn Beach sands start at the seaside resort town and stretch all the way down to Aberdyfi providing dunes and plenty of surf along the way. Explore the many cafes, restaurants and shops in the market town of Machynlleth just 5 miles away, and if the weather is not on your side, visit one of the many art exhibitions housed in the Tabernacle, a former chapel converted into an arts centre.

Cross the wooden bridge over the babbling brook to enter this magical property. The centrepiece of the large lounge is the stone inglenook fireplace complete with a wood burner. An ancient, beamed ceiling adds to the traditional cosy feel and plenty of comfy sofas invite guests to snuggle up for an evening in. A spacious kitchen/diner has a light, bright feel and there is a large dining table perfect for sociable mealtimes catching up on the day’s adventures had by all. A WC on the ground floor is great for convenience. A wooden staircase leads up to the first floor from the kitchen where three pretty bedrooms lead off from the hallway. The king-size room is well furnished and has fabulous views of the stream and surrounding countryside from the window. Two more single rooms offer peaceful views, plenty of space and are well presented with a lovely cosy feel. The shower room on this floor is fresh and bright with a large shower cubicle and WC.

The beautiful garden and its delightful setting really are one of the property's main draws. Take a seat on the large patio space and listen to the sound of the babbling brook, birdsong, and sheep in the distance. A refreshing space to breathe and make your holiday experience one to remember. The well-kept south-facing garden is enclosed and features lawns, flowerbeds, and a patio with an outdoor dining area.

We had an amazing stay at hen gapel! Very cozy cottage and in an excellent location for feeling like you're in nature but not too far from nearby towns and shops. The owners kindly left us treats and wood for the fire which was really appreciated, it felt like pretty much everything you could need had been considered. The shower was great and the bRead moreeds were very comfortable. We also recommend topping up the bird feeders if you can, we saw a collection of garden birds, woodpeckers, and even a hawfinch during our stay. Hide

We wanted a quite week where we could chill out and do some walking, this area is ideal for that. The wildlife(birds) are abundant.

We absolutely loved staying in this cottage! Lovely and clean, well equipped and lots of little extras such as hand soap, washing up liquid, kitchen roll etc. It is in a beautiful and peaceful place and the log fire was perfect in the evenings after a long day exploring! Would definitely stay here again!

We (2) stayed for a week at Easter 2023. The cottage is beautifully, well maintained and well off the beaten track, so it's very quiet. The kitchen is clean and more than adequate, although some of the pots and pans could do with replacing. The living room is spacious and comfortable with 2 sofas, and the owners left a good amout of logs for the buRead morerner. The TV is freesat not a smart TV which is a shame. The double bed is comfortable and warm, with plenty of pillows. The bathroom has no bath but does have a good size electric shower. There is a second toilet downstairs. The outside has a good size table where you can sit a listen to the birds singing and watch for the Kites circling overhead. The lights on the bridge are a nice touch. Overall we had a lovely time staying at Hen Gapel with no complaints. Hide

A perfect stay in a fabulouse cottage in a beautiful location. Just bring your own frying pan if you plan pancakes for breakfast, lol.
