The town is nestled within the stunning UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, an area of special interest and one of only 6 designated biospheres in the UK. Here you can find several nature reserves, wet grassland, salt marshes, lakes, mountains, nature trails, ancient woodland and coastal paths. This is an area with an active interest in sustainability, something which you can discover more about at The Centre for Alternative Technology which is located approximately 3 miles from Machynlleth, in an old slate quarry. Here you can view working examples of renewable energy and visit the magnificent organic gardens amongst many other activities. With the fully equipped kitchen and large dining table, this space is ideal for gathering your friends or family together for a meal. The downstairs bedroom has wheelchair access with underfloor heating and can be set up as a super king-size room or twin. Upstairs there’s a twin room boasting wonderful exposed beams and lots of storage space for your belongings. The second twin room provides a chest of drawers and hanging rail for your clothes and has a cute “gallery” window which looks onto the kitchen and adds a truly unique touch to the space. The large wet room with WC serves as a shared family bathroom and has disabled access and handrails for those who may need added assistance.
There’s plenty of outdoor garden space for your whole family and children will simply love exploring the areas around the cottage, be sure to ask in advance for the children’s croquet set for some real Alice in Wonderland-style fun! A table and chair set and BBQ are provided for outdoor dining during warmer months. Guests can also utilise the footpath which is accessible through the garden. This leads directly to Llyn Ruck lake at the top of the hill with magnificent views across the Dyfi Estuary and sea.
