After a day of exploring, return to your rural retreat to play games in the meadow or share stories in the glow of the open fire. Sleeping eight guests, the cottage is a great base for family reunions and holidays with friends.
The cottage feels bright and airy, thanks to high ceilings and an open-plan layout. Beautiful, exposed beams and brickwork add personality and charm to each area, and cute accessories bring a homely touch. The magnificent dual-aspect lounge/diner, with views over the garden, is a glorious place to unwind with friends and family. Make yourself comfortable on the plush seating, and watch the smart TV or warm your toes in front of the crackling open fire. Gather around the large dining table for evenings of delicious food and lots of laughter, before sneaking off to the snug/bedroom which has a 2 single beds or double bed with TV/DVD player and a Jack and Gill ensuite which completes the ground floor. On the first floor, you’ll find two king-size bedrooms, as well as a bunk bedroom with two sets of adult-size bunk beds. There’s also a handy shower room on this floor.
Heading outside, there’s ample room for everyone to spread out and relax. Enjoy family mealtimes around the picnic benches on the patio, play games on the lawn, and toast marshmallows around the campfire. A beautiful meadow envelops the property, with a stream, pond, bulrushes, and idyllic views of the village church (children must be supervised at all times by the water).
The small village of Gunthorpe is a lovely and peaceful area to enjoy some quiet. The coast is not far away at all with stone beaches at Cley and Salthouse. Salthouse also has the beautiful dog friendly pub - The Dun Cow this is a fabulous local favourite with uninterrupted views over the salt marshes. Slightly further afield you can find sandy beaches as Wells Next To The Sea and Holkham. Wells is the perfect place for a day out as friends or with the family, offering many fish and ship shops, arcades, cafes and restaurants and boutique shops and most importantly the beautiful sandy beach which stretches for miles. Blakeney and Morston also host England's largest seal colony and offer seal trips from the quay where you can see the seals and their pups in thousands at Blakeney Point.
Just 6 miles away is the pretty, bustling market town of Holt, this town offers an array of eateries, cafes, art galleries and antique shops and the North Norfolk Steam Railway, or explore the many trails on foot and bike in Holt Country Park set among 100 acres of woodland. and for traditional seaside family fun, Cromer offers amusements, crazy golf, Amazona Zoo and a great choice of seafood restaurants many serving locally caught fresh seafood including the famous Cromer Crab.
All year round the surrounding areas are perfect for keen bird watches, springtime brings the migrating birds, spring flowers and the striking fields of yellow gorse up on Kelling Heath. Autumn is a birders’ paradise with more migrating birds with fantastic bird watching sites at Cley, Sheringham Park, Titchwell, Stiffkey and Snettisham.
