This charming two-storey cottage near the beach in a Cornish fishing port is an ideal getaway for couples or small families who want a seaside holiday. Start your day by strolling to the harbour (less than 0.5 miles) where you can grab a pastry and a coffee or visit the Porthleven Harbour Market. Head back towards the property to Porthleven Beach (less than 0.5 miles) for a swim in the sea or enjoy a hike along the South West Coast Path, which will take you to Loe Bar Beach (1.5 miles) and the largest natural freshwater lake in Cornwall, The Loe (1.5 miles).

As you enter the living area you’ll feel the tranquil atmosphere. On top of the soft carpet sits two comfortable sofas. Put your feet up and switch on the TV or play some relaxing music and enjoy a chat with your family or partner. The kitchen is compact but bright and well laid out, for ease of use. Once you’ve cooked a hearty meal, sit at the wooden table and chairs in the homely dining room. Additionally, on the ground floor, there’s also a utility room which has a washing machine and freezer. Lovely cottage, perfect position and well appointed inside. Very spacious and nice layout. Everything you need for a lovely holiday in Porthleven. Parking a real bonus even if a bit tight for bigger cars. Would stay again.

We relaxed as soon as we arrived! We loved being able to walk over the road and be on the beach but also being able to retreat away when we needed a rest. The house was fresh and felt loved. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we could need. The beds were comfy! We used the parking for unloading and loading on arrival/departure but parkedRead more in the harbour or opposite The Atlantic Inn aside from then - we knew our car wasn't small so would likely not fit well (it fitted but so tightly it felt as though it was going to end in wiping it down a wall at some point if we did it often!) but being able to park close for those days was great and it was easy to find parking close-by that was better sized for our car when we needed it. There's an outside tap for washing down muddy or sandy things which we found really helpful. The location is great, both for Porthleven but also for the surrounding area. Plenty to do without getting into the car, and even more if you do. All in all we loved it and would happily have stayed for another week! Hide

A lovely cottage, seconds away from the beach. Perfect for our needs. This is our second time here and will probably return again. The only down side is a small parking space but at least it has one. Would highly recommend.

Just a quick email to let you know how much we enjoyed The Retreat! The children loved roaming around the property discovering its quirky characteristics and were really wowed by the rooftop views from the elevated garden. It is such a delightful place to stay - we adored it and would love to come back again some day.

Lovely break, weather pretty good. Our first visit to Porthleven and loved it. Great cottage. For young children would recommend a trip to 'Flambards.' Also enjoyed the Seal Sanctuary. It is a very picturesque setting. Lovely sandy beach at Gwithian or Hayle with good restaurant. Also at Harbour Inn and Atlantic. Both good for kids!

We thought the Retreat was perfect, tucked away out of sight, far more spacious than it looks (it's a bit of a tardis!) and everything that we could possibly want. It really was the best way to start a new year, and I have absolutely no doubt that we'll be back next year. We've staying in Porthleven many times over the years, but now we've found yoRead moreu, will always stay in one of your cottages Hide
