Property code: OC-BLUEHO

The beautiful holiday home is set in the picturesque old fishing village of Porthleven, and overlooks its rugged sand and shingle beach. Sleeping three guests, the property makes a wonderful romantic retreat or coastal escape for a small family. With far-reaching views out to sea and along the coast, it’s the perfect place to swich off and connect with nature. Wander out your front door and onto the beach, where you can enjoy long walks along the sand to Loe Bar and the National Trust Penrose Estate. The South West Coast Path also passes through the village, providing dramatic clifftop paths and jaw-dropping scenery. The village itself is largely unspoilt, with cute cottages nestled around a picture-postcard harbour. Take the time to explore the local arts and crafts shops and eat in the independent restaurants, many of which serve fresh seafood and traditional Cornish dishes. The cottage is well placed for exploring some of Cornwall’s top attractions, with St Michael’s Mount (8.5 miles) and Lizard Point (14 miles) within easy reach.

The seaside retreat has a reverse-level layout, to really make the most of the far-reaching coastal views. As you enter the ground floor, you’ll discover the dual-aspect king-size bedroom, where you can enjoy a peaceful night’s rest and wake up to the sound of the waves rolling into shore. A stylish single bedroom is also located on this level, along with a chic bathroom. Heading upstairs, discover a fabulous open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The space is decorated in cool tones, with little flashes of turquoise and aquamarine, to reflect the stunning surroundings. Dine by the window overlooking Mount’s Bay, before retiring to the comfortable seating for a movie night in front of the SkyTV.

There is no outdoor space with this property. However, steps outside the front door lead directly onto the 3-mile stretch of sand and shingle, providing you with ample space to stretch your legs and fill your lungs with fresh, sea air.

This is a lovely cottage in a stunning location but exposed to the full force of North Atlantic weather. There are inevitable damp problems but these are more of a worry for the owner than for their guests. Good heating and a dehumidifier kept things comfortable. Porthleven is a great centre from which to explore this wonderful bit of Cornwall.

Had a great stay , and location ....wow. There are some damp issues with the property but not unexpected given the environment next to the sea spray etc, the owners have a de-humidifier running to help, the property is warm and comfortable and you don't feel like it's damp so all good,

This is the second time we have stayed in Blue Horizon and love the location which really cant be bettered but this time the damp in the property was a really problem and we did not feel it was even safe with lots of damp around the electric sockets, we also had to empty a dehumidifier every day!

Overall we loved our stay in the cottage. Apart from the minor details above we thought it was great and hope to come back soon. We also really appreciated the gifts provided (e.g. Wine, peanuts, mini cheddars, coffee, etc).

Blue Horizon is a wonderful place to stay, it has everything you need and is definitely home from home. It is very clean and well maintained and the little things are so appreciated, little hamper on arrival and the bottle of wine in the fridge. It is in a great location not only in Porthleven but for visiting many other beautiful parts of CornwalRead morel. The only downside is having to leave! Hide
