The village shop, pub and famous crab shop are less than half a mile away, and a little further is access to the shingle beach with its 10-mile sculpture trail. This wascthe first time we have stayed in the spring (previously we have had short winter breaks here). We were without our own transport this time also and so relied on the Coastal Hopper buses. Initially we thought this would be a problem but apart from their late start (first bus to Wells isnt till 9.50 am) we found it quite manageable and cRead moreonvenient. The cottage itself is very well appointed although despite having stayed here several times now it still took us a while to realise that there is a secret drawer for the kitchen knives etc! There are really 3 separate sleeping quarters each with its own bathroom; the garage annexe, the top attic room and the first floor which is ideal for people wanting their own space/privacy. The garden is a sun-trap and lovely for breakfast but the Beth Chattoesque lawn could do with a re-spread of the wood chips as its starting to fray (or why not plant with a non-mow herb instead?). The road is incredibly quiet and the village itself peaceful. Pastries and coffee from the general store were a real breakfast treat but be prepared for a wait as the coffee maker can be a little slow and the Dun Cow although not exactly a village pub (more a restaurant) served excellent food and are very friendly. Salthouse Heath, a stones throw away, is wonderful for walks with purring Turtle Doves and singing Woodlarks to keep you company among the glowing gorse clumps. Hide

Marsh view is a very quietly situated house in a cul-de-sac. It was perfect for us with grown up children, a dog and bikes. Even a desk to work at which was a help. Well equipped small kitchen, utility & generous bedrooms. The house is light and clean. Lovely Salthouse store and crab shop a 10 min walk. Shingle beach 15-20 mins. Lots of great walksRead more / bike rides and nature to explore on the doorstep. Hide

A spacious, well-equipped modern property, ideal for a family party. The light pours in, and the view of the coast from the top floor is impressive. The secluded garden is a good space for youngsters to entertain themselves.
