This former slate workers cottage is a lovely place for families to relax after the many outdoor adventures to be had in Eryri - the Snowdonia National Park. It’s a great base if you’re here to hike Yr Wyddfa - Snowdon or catch the Snowdon Mountain Railway (which runs from around April until November) to the summit. There are many other natural wonders to discover within Snowdonia including Padarn Lake, perfect for wild swimming or try water sports like canoeing or paddleboarding. If you fancy a family beach day, head over to Anglesey (20.5 miles) where there are plenty of picturesque sands to discover. For a spectacular history lesson, visit Caernarfon castle and walled town (7 miles).
After all those outdoor adventures, you’ll appreciate the snugness of this cottage, especially in the sitting room where you can lounge on the sofa or in the easy chair in front of the Smart TV, with the flame-effect stove flickering in its atmospheric fireplace. Read the books about the area’s great outdoors and study the collection of local photography across the walls. The settee can be converted into a double sofa bed for alternative sleeping arrangements (with four guests maximum). The ground floor also has a cloakroom with a WC and a modern kitchen with cookery books and a charming wall map by the four-seater dining table. French doors lead to the small outdoor yard at the rear of the property. Head upstairs to the king-size bedroom that’s ready for relaxation with its delightful beamed ceiling and easy chair with reading light above. The simple twin bedroom is south facing with vistas over the garden and surrounding farmland. The first floor also has a bathroom with a shower cubicle.
Enjoy some time in the peaceful outdoors whether in your small, enclosed rear yard (which is a good place to hang wet clothes or store bikes) or in the slate area at the front of the cottage where there’s parking space, a bench and a picnic table for al fresco family dining. The outdoor areas of this property are small but there is a public playground opposite the cottage so the kids have plenty of space to enjoy nearby.
