Discover the Yorkshire Dales from this traditional stone-built cottage, full of character and charm, in the village of Gayle. Sleeping four guests across two bedrooms, the property is perfect for a family that wants to explore all this national park has to offer. Hawes with its marketplace is only 0.5 miles away; wander the rough-hewn stone houses and pick up some handmade gifts, traditional sweets or second-hand books. If you’ve brought your walking boots, strike out on the Pennine Way, a 267-mile route that passes through Hawes. Head north and you’ll reach Hardraw Force waterfall (2.5 miles), a beautiful cascade over a 30-metre limestone overhang. The falls and gorge are located in 15 acres of beautiful woodland and were even featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Enter immediately into the lounge/diner and take a seat on the comfortable sofas in front of the stone fireplace and wood burner. Catch up on your favourite shows on the TV with Netflix or head through to the Yorkshire stone-floored kitchen and rustle up a meal for the group. The patio can also be accessed from here. Move back to the diner, where you can sit at the table to eat, and access the ground-floor bathroom. From the lounge, head up the stairs to find both bedrooms: a double and a twin.

There is a small, paved area at the back of the cottage with a table and chairs.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Had everything we needed and some lovely little touches - really thoughtfully put together by the owners. An ideal spot for exploring the Dales.

Had a great week seeing lots of lovely places. Cottage was well equipped and comfortable. Short walk to Hawes which is lovely. Excellent walks from the door. Outdoor furniture was broken so not usable and parking is difficult. Very narrow and have to park down the road. This should be made clearer on the details.

Lovely comfortable cottage, myself and my husband had a lovely week their. There are plenty of walks and only a 5 minute walk into Hawes via the road or a couple of different footpaths, plenty of places to eat, the "Wensleydale Pantry" is really good for reasonably priced food served all day, the White Hart is very good but expensive, The Fountain Read morewas good pub grub, plus beer in both spot on. There's The little White bus" which you can catch from Gayle which either goes to Garsdale Train Station or the other way to Leyburn with plenty of stops en-route, we used it quite a bit.. The cottage was cosy and the bed was very comfortable. Would stay there again. Hide
