Once two quarry-men’s cottages, this beautifully restored home in Corris is ideal for an active family holiday any time of year. Set in the southern part of Snowdonia, the national park, with its superb walking, climbing and mountain-biking, is on the doorstep. If you like birdwatching, don’t miss a visit to the Dyfi Osprey Project (10 miles), or the RSPB Ynys-Hir Nature Reserve (13 miles). The small town of Machynlleth is 6.6 miles away, where you’ll enjoy the Owain Glyndŵr Centre that documents the history of the region.

Some of the other attractions in the area include the Talyllyn Steam Railway with Thomas the Tank Engine in Tywyn, Dolgoch Falls, as well as the ancient capital of Wales, Machynlleth, home to the Old Parliament House, the oldest street market on the British Isles and MOMA Wales art gallery. Aberdyfi links golf course, the RSPB Reserve, the Dyfi Osprey Project at Ynyshir and The Centre for Alternative Technology for pre-booked educational visits are all also popular attractions, to name but a few

In the spacious living room on the ground floor you’ll find comfortable chairs and sofas around a wood burner in a traditional slate hearth. The kitchen/diner has a cottagey feel with a pot belly stove in another fireplace (ornamental this time). A utility room houses appliances and there’s a separate WC. Upstairs are three pretty bedrooms with storage, and views out over the valley, as well as a large bathroom.

Outside is an enclosed garden at the back. Steps with a handrail lead up to an elevated deck with table, chairs and a charcoal BBQ.

Ideal location to visit the Dyfi Bike Park with its big mountain trails, set in 650 acres at the heart of Dyfi Forrest just 5 minutes down the road from the cottage. Also Coed y Brenin, 20 minutes up the road with its selection of paths for walking, running trails and the recent addition of 100km of exciting new mountain biking trails catering for most levels and ages. Visitor centres at both locations. Mountain bikes, equipment and mountain bike training can be hired locally and bikes delivered/collected at the cottage free of charge, whilst road bikes can also be hired locally. Secure bike storage on site.

We had such a lovely 2 weeks here. There was so much to do in the area and the house was so comfortable that we felt at home straight away. We loved all the interesting details in the house and there were even binoculars which we borrowed on a couple of our trips out. The owners were very kind and accessible if we needed anything. The people we metRead more in the area were very friendly too. We would definitely come back again. Hide

Lovely cottage in a quaint part of Wales, not too close to supermarkets, so make sure you stock up before you go. Enjoy the scenery and local walks. Would definitely stay there again.
