Tucked away in a peaceful spot on the hillside with wonderful sea views, this couples-only apartment is the ideal romantic bolthole near the sandy beach at Carbis Bay. Located around a mile east of St Ives, Carbis Bay is a tranquil and sheltered beach with little surf, and water sports such as kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding on offer. At low tide, it’s possible to walk east to Porthkidney Sands – a great spot for nature lovers with an RSPB reserve at Hayle Estuary. In the other direction, you can pick up the South West Coast Path to the popular seaside resort of St Ives, or you can catch the train. St Ives has a rich artistic heritage with several galleries including Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, and a beautiful fishing harbour from where you can hop on a boat trip to Seal Island, home to a colony of grey seals.
While this first-floor apartment is arranged across a single level, there are six steps down and six steps up to reach the front door. The spacious lounge/diner is light and airy, spanning the length of the property. At one end of the room, there’s a comfortable seating area and TV next to the patio door, while a dining table sits beneath the window at the other end. Along the corridor, there’s a bright and fresh kitchen, a shower room, and a cosy and well-presented bedroom with a king size (5ft) bed.
Outside, the balcony offers a lovely spot to make the most of the sea views and fresh air. There’s also a shared lawn garden with a convenient area for drying clothes, and a footpath leading to the beach.
