Property code: OC-1989

This gorgeous home sits conveniently close to Harpley’s pretty 14th-century church and charming country pub. Go for a peaceful stroll at Castle Rising (8.5 miles), a beautiful ruined medieval fortification that dates back to 1138, or head to Sandringham (7 miles) and have a look around the Queen’s favourite country retreat. Get the gang together for a traditional day out at the classic seaside resort of Hunstanton (15.5 miles), where you can see its famous striped cliffs and enjoy a stroll along the Victorian promenade garden. Alternatively, take the kids to meet the deer, lambs and ponies at Snettisham Park (8.5 miles), or take the grownups to King’s Lynn for gin-tasting at its award-winning distillery.

Step inside and make yourself at home in the lovely sitting room, where you’ll find plenty of comfortable seating and a decorative fireplace. Doors from the sitting room open into a study where you can spend some quiet time in an armchair in front of the TV. When it’s time for dinner, head to the kitchen and you’ll find everything you need to cook up a storm – an electric four-oven Aga, a five-ring hob and griddle, large central island, electric built-in oven, dishwasher and integrated larder fridge. There’s also a handy utility room with a fridge/freezer, washing machine and dryer. When it’s time to eat, enjoy an informal meal in the light and bright garden room, which features a lantern roof. Everyone can relax in front of the room’s Smart TV after dinner. Or, if you’re celebrating, get the whole gang together for a special dinner in the dining hall. The table in here sits ten and there’s a lovely open fireplace, so the ambience is always cosy. A family bedroom with a double bed and a single bed is on this level and a cloakroom WC rounds off the ground-floor layout. Head upstairs and you’ll be greeted by a lovely galleried landing with comfortable seating and an impressive, vaulted ceiling. Here you’ll find three lovely bedrooms – two king-size with en-suite bathrooms and one king-size with access to the family bathroom, which has a bath and hand-held shower attachment and WC. The en-suites comprise a bath with shower attachment, a separate shower and WC; and a shower and WC.

To the rear of the property, you’ll find a wonderful, enclosed garden with a sun terrace. Pull up a chair at the table and pour yourself a glass of something cool and crisp while the kids run off some steam in the garden. Or take a few steps to the raised lawn and you’ll find a sweet bench. To the front of the house, there is a second terrace with a built-in brick BBQ area – making al fresco dining a breeze. There is parking on the drive for four cars, as well as an additional parking space at the back of the property.

We like to cook family meals on holiday so were delighted with the wide range of cooking implements, big pans, crockery and cutlery etc as it is not always the case in houses that sleep 9. Big tables inside and outside too. Great.

This large beautiful cottage was perfect for multi- generational families in an excellent location for exploring this part of Norfolk. There are plenty of places to visit within a few miles, and coastal resorts also within easy reach. Harpley is a delightful village with easy walks from the door, but longer walks are readily accessible for the moreRead more adventurous. The Rose and Crown is a two minute walk away and serves good food and a range of beers. We would particularly recommend Sunday Lunch which was excellent. A well stocked shop and post office is to be found in Great Massingham together with a tearoom and also The Dabbling Duck public house which also serves meals. We heartily recommend St Lawrence House! Hide

This house was a spectacular place for a wonderful Christmas, with family and friends. The beds were extremely comfortable, house cosy and warm and it had plenty of room for a large party to break off and find their own spaces. The extraordinary thing about this house and the reason we would very highly recommend it, was that extent to which it wasRead more equipped. The kitchen was set up for cooks, with all the equipment you usually wonder if you have to bring, from sharp knives to cake tins! This attention to detail, extended to crockery, cutlery, glasses and serving bowls inc. a turkey platter, gravy boats and a butter dish. The silent setting was blissful and had lovely walks through the village and was literally doors down was a an excellent pub, where we had a great meal. Hide

St Lawrence House is an extremely beautiful, comfortable and well appointed property ideal for a family break. The information from Original Cottages was excellent and I would book again with the company without hesitation if they covered other areas of uk.

The house was presented very well. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. Such good value for money, the little touches like hand wash, toilet and kitchen rolls, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets were all very appreciated. Beds were so comfy and the house was lovely and warm. Thank you
