A charming and inviting country cottage close to the market town of Haltwhistle provides an idyllic and tranquil setting for a couple to enjoy a relaxing break, away from the bustle of city life. The market town of Haltwhistle, just 1 mile south, is at the geographical centre of Britain, and boasts a selection of eateries, cafes and pubs, as well as a local heated swimming pool and tennis courts. Haltwhistle is the closest town to the Roman site of Hadrian’s Wall, which is also 1 mile away to the north. This location is excellent for walkers, who can enjoy plenty of trails through scenic hills and valleys. 8 miles northeast is the Housesteads Roman fort, while just 9 miles to the south, the North Yorkshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is waiting to be explored. Further afield, the city of Carlisle, with its spectacular cathedral, is 21 miles west.
After a day of exploring, you can relax in front of the TV in the cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The exposed beams above give the room a warm, intimate and private feel. At one end of the room, you can rustle up a meal in the kitchen, while chatting or keeping one eye on the TV in the comfortable lounge area, which has a door leading to a narrow, enclosed patio. Enjoy a romantic meal for two at the dining table. From this room, a staircase leads to the first-floor bedroom where you can retire for a restful night’s sleep. A contemporary shower room completes the first floor.
Outside, make the most of warm weather with a BBQ on the shared, paved patio area, complete with picnic tables.
