This unique holiday home is perfect for a big group of family or friends who enjoy walking and the wilderness. It is set in the wilds of the Northumberland National Park, nestled on the slopes of the Cheviot Hills. All around you are open spaces, unspoilt habitats, abundant wildlife and big skies. Trails lead out in all directions taking walkers into the hills and dales. This retreat is in College Valley, a truly exceptional place with a private road system that grants just 12 permits for cars per day – the result is a pervading sense of peace and tranquillity. Whether you’re hiking the trails far and wide, taking a local stroll or simply sitting in the garden, opportunities for wildlife spotting are everywhere. These hills are home to wild deer and goats, peregrines, kestrels, red squirrels and more. It is also part of Northumberland’s vast Dark Sky Park, so be sure to save some energy to stay up after dark. There are country pubs within 11 miles of the house, and shops and further amenities in the town of Wooler 13 miles away. If the seaside calls, then the long sandy beaches of the Northumberland coast are around 27 miles away.
Relax in the lovely living room of this retreat, which has plenty of comfortable seating gathered around an open fire. The ample country-style kitchen is well equipped with lots of space for cooking and there’s a lovely, separate dining room for your evening feasts. Two of the beautiful bedrooms are also to be found on the ground floor: one super-king bedroom and a twin room, both with en-suites. The twin room can also be configured as a second super-king if requested upon booking. Also on the ground floor, there’s a utility room and a separate cloakroom. Upstairs on the first floor, there are two more bedrooms comprised of a twin (again this room can be configured as a super-king if requested), and a family room with two small double beds. Both rooms share the use of a delightful family bathroom with a bath and handheld shower attachment.
Outside, guests will be surrounded by the most amazing views of unspoilt wilderness. Immediately out the rear door there is a patio area equipped with a furniture and a charcoal BBQ – a wonderfully tranquil spot to gather for a peaceful morning coffee or a sunny afternoon meal. After dark, guests can wrap up warm and venture outside to stargaze in this Dark Sky destination.
