This stone-built cottage has been lovingly converted from a former farm building, and makes an ideal property for a getaway with family or a group of friends. In the surrounding area, you will find wild fells, stunning views and peaceful walks under big skies. Hadrian's Wall is nearby with the forts of Birdoswald (6 miles), Housesteads (15.5 miles) and Vindolanda (14 miles) all within a short drive. The North Pennines are equally accessible (within 28 miles), an area is justly described as ‘England's Last Wilderness’ and righty designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Part of this area is the RSPB Geltsdale Reserve (3.5 miles), home to black grouse, birds of prey and wading birds. It is ideal for walking with four way-marked trails, a parking area and a visitor centre. The market town of Brampton is just 2 miles with a good range of shops and amenities, whilst the city of Carlisle is just 10 miles.

Climb three steps to the front door and enter the accommodation which is all on one floor. Move into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner and gather around the wood burner, which is the focal point of the room. Amenities include a TV, a DVD player and CD/radio. Pack a picnic in the well-appointed kitchen before heading out for a day of exploring in this area of outstanding natural beauty. Move through the property and find the first bedroom, featuring a comfortable double bed, storage and an en-suite shower room with WC. The second bedroom offers twin beds with rustic exposed stone feature wall. Down the hallway, you’ll find a spacious bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

French doors in the kitchen area lead out to patio area and enclosed garden. Light the BBQ and sit on the outdoor furniture or climb a couple of steps to the expansive lawned area. After a hike through the countryside, relax and rejuvenate with a soak in the hot tub (additional charge).

A great base for exploring not only the immediate area but the Lakes to the south and Borders/Scotland to the north. A nice cottage in a quiet location with good amenities and a small town close by for shopping. Carlisle just 15/20 mins away and easy access to the M6 to explore the Lakes and Scotland.

The property has no frills at all. The best feature is the location. Shower doors off the runners water pressure poor. Bedroom Stool old and wobbly. I noticed someone had reviewed the property and said fridge was leaking.. it still is. We chose this property for the location and hot tub. The hot tub had no sterile chemicals to put in for healtRead moreh safety. THe tub area was unkempt and the summer house had doors that wouldnt close. So the room was full of leaves . The big bulky furniture make the room very small . Towels provided were very small Hide
