Escape with your loved ones to this picture-perfect cottage in Horton in Ribblesdale to immerse yourself in the wild, untamed beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Spend your days hiking up Yorkshire’s famous Three Peaks which you can start from Horton – Whernside (20.5 miles), Ingleborough (10 miles) and Pen-y-Ghent (3 miles), or head to Settle (8 miles) and enjoy a scenic journey on the much-loved Settle-Carlisle Railway. This lovely railway attracts visitors from around the globe. If you’re lucky enough to be there in October and November, head to Stainforth Force (5.5 miles) to see the amazing display of leaping salmon. Alternatively, go underground at White Scar Cave (11.5 miles) to see the massive Ice Age cavern in Britain’s longest showcave.
Step inside this gorgeous traditional cottage and kick off your shoes in the welcoming hallway. There’s plenty of storage space for your outdoor gear. Make your way through to the lounge to sink into a sofa and soak up the views over the garden towards the river. When it’s time to eat, head to the farmhouse-style kitchen to rustle up some dinner for your group. You’ll find everything you need to create a fabulous feast. You can then gather everyone around the table in the lounge/dining room to eat. This is a particularly pretty room with its beamed ceiling, window seat, traditional Yorkshire Range and a door leading out to the patio area. A handy utility room with WC and cloakroom with WC complete the charming first-floor layout. Up on the first floor you’ll discover three lovely bedrooms to choose from, as well as a chic family bathroom – a double and two twins (the zip-and-link beds in one of the twin bedrooms can be combined to create a king-size on request).
Outside you’ll find an incredibly pretty traditional English garden with a furnished patio area. Walk through the gate at the bottom of the garden and you’ll discover a lovely river. Please note that children should be supervised at all times.
