Rest and recharge in this fabulous Grade II-listed cottage in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Sleeping three guests, the property makes the perfect romantic retreat, as well as a base for a small family. The area is teeming with interesting walks and cycle rides, with a multitude of nearby tracks, trails, and quiet country lanes. Set off from the cottage to explore the surrounding countryside, enjoying historic sites, such as Saxtead Green Post Mill (0.5 miles), which is preserved by English Heritage. Just 2.8 miles away is the bustling market town of Framlingham. The town has an excellent array of independent shops and boutiques, as well as some fantastic eateries and an impressive 12th-century castle. Heading to the coast, the traditional seaside town of Aldeburgh is 17 miles away and makes a lovely day out.
This charming period property is packed with original features, including a striking exposed timber frame, inglenook fireplace and exquisite mullion window. Great care has been taken to create a stylish and comfortable holiday home, whilst maintaining the heart and soul of the property. The welcoming lounge/diner has a plush velvet sofa to relax on to warm your toes by the wood burner or read a few pages of your book. By the window, there is a dining table for you to enjoy mealtimes together. Just off the lounge/diner is the gorgeous kitchen, with its stylish shaker-style units and everything you need to rustle up a tasty dinner. Cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor, where an elegant king-size bedroom awaits, with far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside. Also on this floor is the spacious bathroom. A further bedroom – a single – is located on the second floor. As this bedroom is set in the eaves, you can expect characterful low beams and sloping ceilings, meaning there is restricted head height in some areas.
Outside, you’ll find an immaculate south-facing garden, with a small lawn area and pretty climbers adorning the fence. On the sunny patio, there’s a table and chairs, parasol, and BBQ for enjoying memorable evenings of al fresco dining in the Suffolk sunshine.
