"An exceptional barn that we have really enjoyed staying in. The location and grounds were picturesque and tranquil. A great place to unwind and spend time with family. We will definitely stay again". - Gary Gundry
An impressive barn conversion nestled in picturesque rural surroundings, this enticing holiday retreat near Sotterley makes a wonderful base for extended family groups and parties of friends. Sleeping ten guests, the five-bedroom Suffolk property sits in delightful grounds, 5 miles from the beach at Covehithe where you can see a small 17th-century church within the ruins of a much larger 14th-century one. It is also 7.5 miles from Southwold, with its many independent shops and gastropubs, as well as a pier with quirky, interactive, machine attractions. Quieter Walberswick, 10 miles away, is the perfect place to go crabbing, while in Beccles, 5.5 miles away, you can hire day cruisers and enjoy a few hours on the Norfolk Broads.
Step inside this enchanting barn to find accommodation that marries attractive original features with sumptuous style. The heart of the property is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with floor-to-ceiling windows and views out on to the courtyard garden and countryside. Stoke up the wood burner in here on chilly evenings, take turns at preparing hearty feasts in the chic kitchen, with its many appliances, and dine together at the table. Members of your party might also like to relax in the second lounge, with its own wood burner, Smart TV and doors on to the garden. Also downstairs there’s a utility room, a study and a WC. There is also a family shower room at this level. A king-size bedroom with TV and an en-suite shower room, a bunk bedroom suitable for children up to 12, and one twin which can be made up as a super-king-size room are all also downstairs. Climb separate staircases up to two more super-king-size bedrooms – one with a TV and en-suite shower room, and one with a TV and en-suite bathroom with free-standing bath and another TV by the bath. There are no doors at the leading to these bedrooms, but they are private.
Spill out into the mature garden at every opportunity. Dine outside in the fresh air, taking in the views and savouring the tranquillity. Play petanque and boules with your family and friends. Children and pets must be supervised at all times outside as the ornamental pond is not covered.
