This cute fisherman’s cottage is ideal for a family holiday by the seaside or for a cosy couple’s retreat. Set in the centre of town just away from the main high street guests will have all of Southwold on their doorstep. This handsome Edwardian seaside town has much to offer. Cheerfully painted beach huts back its sandy beach and there is an attractive pier for promenades and amusements. Along its streets, visitors will find a great range of shops, cafes and restaurants to discover. And with Adnams Brewery resident in the town, there are plenty of good pubs. The surrounding countryside is part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there are lots of lovely walks, cycle routes and sightseeing to enjoy. Visiting the neighbouring village of Walberswick makes a good day trip with its gorgeous sandy beach and picture-perfect village green. Head inland to explore the countryside and perhaps stop off at the friendly market town of Halesworth, 9.5 miles away, for a wander and a browse.
Guests enter the cottage directly from the street into a welcoming lounge with an inglenook fireplace, parquet flooring and exposed beams. On cooler evenings you can draw the curtains, stoke up the wood burner and get cosy. The whole of the downstairs is partially open-plan with a beamed doorway and glassless window opening to the dining area. This features a round wooden table next to a large window overlooking the garden. Off to one side is a compact but well-equipped kitchen and a back door opening to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a shower room. A set of steep cottage-style steps lead to the first floor. Here you’ll find a cosy double bedroom and a spacious twin room. Both have charming, small cottage windows and exposed beams, and there is a quaint desk and chair in the twin room.
Outside guests will find a sheltered suntrap garden bordered by pretty flowerbeds and shrubs. Garden furniture is set out on the patio, so guests can head outside and enjoy their morning coffee or meals alfresco.
