Nestled in the centre of the town with views of the lighthouse and just one street back from the beach, this charming house is in a wonderful location for a large group to have a fantastic seaside holiday. The cottage has been fully refurbished combining clean, stylish interiors and comfortable furnishings with traditional features reminiscent of the property’s past as a barber, and stationery shop. Pop out of the front door to visit the pub next door, do some shopping at the marketplace, with lots of great shops, including a butcher, and a deli. Wander just over 150 metres to reach glorious Southwold Beach for a paddle or turn right on North Parade/Promenade and head to the slightly more rugged Denes beach (0.5 miles from the house) to try wild swimming or have a go at some water sports. Catch the ferry across the river Blyth from the harbour 1.5 miles away to visit the idyllic and quirky village of Walberswick, which hosts the British open crabbing championships every August and is also home to several celebs.
Enter the cottage via a gate on the covered passageway and the property opens up to reveal a lovely, large sitting room with heaps of space to relax in front of the TV, with an electric style wood burner to warm up chilly evenings. There’s a dining room big enough to seat ten guests which leads to the bright and modern galley kitchen with all mod cons, including a Bluetooth sound bar for music while you’re cooking. There’s also a utility room for doing your laundry, a handy cloakroom with a WC, and a double bedroom downstairs two small steps from the hall, which has a bright, modern en-suite shower room attached. There are four further bedrooms upstairs: a light and spacious Master bedroom with king bed, lots of hanging space and a gorgeous original fireplace; and two twin room rooms stylishly designed with funky fittings. These three bedrooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom with a gorgeous roll-top bath and a separate waterfall shower (there are locks on both doors). The fifth bedroom is a cosy double at the back of the cottage which overlooks the courtyard with its own stylish en-suite shower room. All of the bedrooms have USB ports and TVs with Netflix, a real holiday treat.
Outside there’s a paved courtyard area reached from the passageway at the front. The courtyard has glazed doors to the kitchen and the ground floor bedroom, an outside tap for rinsing off dirty dogs and boots, and a table and chairs for enjoying holiday drinks and meals al fresco.
