Dating back to 1873, this beautiful property was a sweet shop in the 1950s and now makes a charming holiday retreat for up to five guests exploring the popular Victorian resort of Swanage. Situated just off the main street, the cottage makes a great base for families and friends, with a range of cafes, shops, pubs and restaurants close by. The beautiful beach is less than 200 metres away, with other local attractions including the pier, Prince Albert Gardens, Swanage Amphitheatre and Peveril Point. The beautiful Durlston Country Park is about a mile to the south, or you can take a trip by steam train 6 miles inland to explore the historic village of Corfe Castle.
Three steps lead down from the porch and into a beautiful lounge/diner which makes a lovely space to sit back and relax in. The lounge features a Purbeck stone fireplace, a wood burner effect electric fire and a window seat offering views towards the town centre. The dining area is a sociable space next to the attractively designed kitchen which has glass doors and a useful serving hatch. The ground floor also benefits from a handy shower room. Going upstairs, you will find a relaxing family bathroom and the three light and tastefully furnished bedrooms. The first is a cheery king-size room with the bed set on a raised plinth; the room also has built-in wardrobes and seating so you can sit back and take in the views from the Juliet balcony out to sea. There’s also a lovely twin bedroom and a delightful single room with a bespoke 4’ bed on a raised platform.
Stepping outside, there’s a small, gated courtyard garden with outdoor furniture, making a sweet spot for a morning coffee.
