This charming waterside home is perfect for friends or family looking for a holiday in a standout location. Set at the end of a private drive, the house has striking uninterrupted river and coastal views. Yet this beautifully tranquil spot is within walking distance of the many amenities of Aberystwyth. This large university town has an enviable position on the coast with stunning scenery all around. It’s a lively place with plenty of independent shops and cafes and some great restaurants. There are several sand and shingle beaches within the town, as well as a pier and a prom. Here, visitors can take a stroll along the front and then climb, or ride the Cliff Railway, up Constitution Hill for impressive panoramic views of the town and the bay. Directly from the house, guests can access the Wales Coast Path and set off on some wonderful walks. Further afield the stretch of sand at Borth is popular with surfers and families and is 7 miles from the house. Aberystwyth also offers direct access to the Cambrian Mountains and the Rheidol Valley where guests can enjoy some impressive walking. The Vale of Rheidol Railway offers a very popular day trip up to Devil's Bridge with yet more stunning walking opportunities.
The house is arranged all on one level, with large windows and plenty of light throughout. The open-plan living space and the bedrooms are all stylishly decorated and nearly all enjoy watery views. The lounge and dining area have original wooden floorboards and elegant furniture. The large picture windows let the light flood in and guests will likely find themselves gazing out the windows at the changing light over the water. High ceilings and Velux windows in the kitchen make it a very pleasant space to cook and with a wide opening to the dining area, it is a sociable space too. The bookshelf is stacked with an interesting array of books, maps and games, so there’s plenty of entertainment on offer as you sit back in one of the home’s easy chairs. All three bedrooms are spacious and inviting. There is a king-size bedroom, a double with an en-suite shower room, and a twin room. The family bathroom features a shower over the bath.
Outside, guests will find a fully enclosed south-facing garden mostly laid to lawn. From here, there are uninterrupted views across the water and it’s a wonderful place to simply sit and stare, perhaps with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in hand. Immediately outside the front door is a gravelled area with outdoor seating. This is the spot for sharing al fresco drinks and meals accompanied by the gentle murmur of the river below.
