Windsurfing and sailing are both popular pursuits here and the surrounding area is well known for its excellent birdwatching opportunities. The seaside resort and fishing port of Seahouses (7 miles) offers boat trips to Farne Islands, a group of islands teeming with birds and seals, and the village of Bamburgh (10 miles) is known for its imposing castle, spectacular coastline and walking trails.
