Set 10 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed and just 7.5 miles from Cheswick Sands and Goswick Beach, this sweet cottage is perfect for friends and families seeking Northumbrian seaside escapes. Berwick has four beaches, three military museums, a ruined castle, an art gallery, theatre, cinema and lighthouse. Find more marvellous beaches at Cocklawburn Beach (7 miles), Ross Sands (9 miles) and Bamburgh (13.5 miles), which has a dramatic castle overlooking the North Sea. Andy Howey’s Birds of Prey Centre (4.5 miles) at Haggerston Castle offers a hands-on experience with reptiles, a range of birds of prey and various creepy crawlies. Explore the plethora of independent shops, pubs, eateries and galleries in Berwick, Bamburgh and Seahouses (16 miles). Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle and Priory (9 miles) also offer a special experience not to be missed.

Situated along a quiet lane, the cottage’s interior is welcoming and comfortable. Dry off wet clothes in the porch, before settling into the spacious lounge, with its two leather sofas, wood burner and upright piano. One step down from the lounge, the kitchen has all you need to conjure feasts of fine local fare. Step into the sunny conservatory, with its dining table for four and double doors onto the courtyard. There are two ground-floor bedrooms, a king-size with views across the fields and a double, with a courtyard vista. The shower room has a walk-in shower cubicle. Up a narrow and steep flight of stairs, there’s an attic room with a vaulted roof and VELUX windows, perfect for reading or as a games or music room, with use of the owner’s guitar. There’s also a low-level double bed, which children can use.

Outside, there’s an enclosed west-facing courtyard with garden furniture, a BBQ and storage for outdoor leisure gear and bicycles. This is the perfect spot for grabbing some sunshine and cooking up some al fresco dinner.

Comfortable stay with pub and village shop in easy walking distance. Nice sized kitchen, well equipped. Sun room is lovely and warm, but roof leaks in heavy rain. Welcome pack consists of a bottle of beer and packet of biscuits. Let down by lack of attention to detail - towels only provided for two guests, not three, and not change of linen for twoRead more week stay. Arrived to find a cardboard box of damp towels in the kitchen. Hide
