This semi-detached former fisherman’s cottage is tucked away just off Craster’s main harbour road and is a charming destination for families or groups of friends. The unspoilt fishing village offers a holiday steeped in local tradition, including the treat of Robson's Craster Kippers, reputedly a favourite of the royal family. Sample the hospitality at the local inn, watch the activity in the small harbour, book a sea-fishing expedition or walk the coast path just over a mile to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, one of the most dramatic on the Northumberland coast. A little further away at 3 miles is Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum, for a cup of tea (this is the ancestral seat of the Earls Grey since 1319) and a wander through the beautiful gardens. In the ancient market town of Alnwick, 7 miles away, you will find a wide range of shops and the iconic Alnwick Castle and its award-winning gardens.
Carefully refurbished throughout, this cosy retreat is a warm and welcoming space to come home to after a day’s activities, and blends traditional features with modern amenities. The lounge has exposed beams, stone walls and a timber floor, with comfortable seating around the wood burner. It also has views towards Craster harbour and the sea beyond. Double glazed doors lead to the bright kitchen, with similarly lovely original features as well as a range of cupboards and worktop space, and a large brick fireplace housing a wood burner-effect electric fire. On this floor there is also a separate dining room with an ornamental fireplace, and a useful utility with laundry facilities and a WC. Upstairs there is a charming double bedroom with a metal bed and views of the harbour and sea, as well as two twin rooms, a family bathroom and a shower room.
Accessible from outside the cottage, a handy lower-ground-floor storage area houses a freezer and (on request) storage area for bikes. There is also a garden, set slightly away from the property (it is one of two which have no dividing fencing or hedges, but are clearly marked) and a paved area with a built-in brick BBQ and wooden seating. With views towards the sea, this is a great space in which to dine together and enjoy the fresh air.
