Looking towards the Brecon Beacons National Park, across the Honddu Valley, this luxurious lodge is one of only two in a field on a working sheep farm. It’s a great romantic bolthole for couples looking to retreat to a rural location. From the lodge itself, there are a number of walking trails where plenty of wildlife can be seen along the way, and some of the trails lead you to the local country pub to refuel. Pen y Fan, South Wales’ highest peak, is just 200 metres from the lodge. For avid golfers, Cradoc Golf Club is 3 miles away and boasts a stunning 18-hole course. Cantref Activity and Adventure Centre (8 miles) is another great option for activities for anyone wishing to try horse riding in such a beautiful setting.
Accessed via three steps, the single-storey lodge is fully open plan, with light pouring in through the windows into the spacious area. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, the small but well-equipped kitchen has all you need to cook up a feast, and the dining table with four chairs allows you to enjoy the views while you eat. Spend lazy evenings cuddled up on the sofa (which can be converted into a double sofa bed on request) reading books, playing board games or watching films with a view of the countryside out of the window. Tucked away in one corner is a comfortable double bed, and there is also a shower room where you can refresh after a long day of exploring.
Through a set of patio doors is a balcony complete with a table and chairs to dine alfresco. Best of all, just next to the lodge is the hot tub which has been made private with three enclosed sides and a wide-open view of the stunning surroundings. Beautiful Sky Line Star gazing from the cabins is a must, also available now on request is a gas BBQ.
