This traditional country house with vast, picturesque views across the Severn Valley and luxurious features like the hot tub is located on a working family farm, making it ideal for groups or families to experience a slice of tranquillity on a peaceful, rural getaway. Nature lovers will enjoy walking around the farmland and surrounding countryside along with a visit to Lake Vyrnwy (20 miles). Here, simply take in the breathtaking views or have a go at watersports like sailing or kayaking. Get a dose of history at medieval Powis Castle (4 miles), which has impressive National Trust gardens to discover, and indulge in group dinners in the delightful market town of Welshpool (4 miles), where there are restaurants and pubs to while away evenings.

As soon as you walk into the entrance hall of this historic home, you’ll be impressed by the Grade II Listed, 16th-century, feature wooden staircase. Pass through the hall to the ground floor’s open-plan living room that boasts high ceilings and two large, criss-cross-style windows so you can look out to lovely valley views as you relax. Prepare group dinners in the country-chic kitchen, with wooden floorboards and a stools-included island with stylish pendant lights hanging above. Tuck in together with rural views at the eight-seater oak dining table, then retire to the neighbouring lounge area where leather sofas and cushioned bucket chairs face the wood burner. There’s a 40-inch Smart TV and DVD player for entertainment throughout your stay. Head up the staircase - stopping at the top to admire the feature window and rustic wall pictures - to get cosy in any of the three en-suite king sized bedrooms that are all bright and pleasant with rustic, homely accessories and more of those wonderful views. There are three bedrooms; the first boasts a TV, small seating area and shower room with rainfall shower; the second has an ornamental original wrought iron fireplace, TV and en-suite with rainfall shower; and the third has an ornamental original wrought iron fireplace, TV and en-suite featuring a rainfall shower over a bath.

There’s even more luxury to indulge in outside of the house. Pass through the front door to the large garden area, where the highlight is the private, six-seater hot tub on a raised patio. Pamper with those panoramic rural views from the best seat in the house. Bathrobes and slippers are provided, adding to the luxury. You’ll also find sun loungers by the hot tub for warm days, and - via steps down to a lower section of the lawned garden - a dining area that overlooks the Severn Valley. Take a seat here and indulge in al fresco meals in a tranquil setting, leaving you with blissful holiday memories. Children are able to enjoy a selection of outdoor games.

A beautiful house and stunning views from all the bedrooms, one thing to bear in mind is you do share the outside space with the cottage which is also rented out, which we werent aware of, however we had a fantastic family time. Stayed here as a family of 5 plus a dog in early August 2023. The house is fairly remote, it's proper single lane roads to get there. But the spectacular views because you're up on a hill are well worth it! The use of the garden area is great and there's a BBQ which we didn't use due to the weather. The fact you're up on a hill means it's quite winRead moredy even when the sun is shining. Didn't stop us sitting out on the sun loungers though! The house is split with the owners using the back of the house. The 3 bedrooms are very well sized, each of them en-suite and one is a shower over the bath. All are rainfall showers which is fantastic. There's shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in all the bathrooms, as well as hand wash on all the sinks. As is to be expected with an old building, the floors are uneven and there are plenty of spiders in the corners of the high ceilings, but this didn't bother us. The staircase is very majestic! The polished floors mean that walking around in slippers or bare feet is best because anyone with mobility issues will likely slip. My partner has mobility issues and the bathrooms are quite a trek from the front room so the lack of a ground floor toilet was a very slight negative. The living area is again, beautifully decorated. The kitchen has plenty of utensils and baking trays etc should you wish to cook a big meal. We found the dishwasher didn't clean the pots too well so ended up hand washing pots most days. The sofas are fairly comfortable but we did find a fair few crumbs and bits in the folds of leather between the seats. The WiFi didn't work, but we didn't mention it as an issue because it meant the kids were forced to engage with us! And I must admit that the welcome bottles of wine was probably the highlight of my visit! The hot tub was wonderful. It is situated in front of one of the owners windows, but their curtains were always closed so this wasn't an issue. Plus, there are towels and robes provided to use. The view whilst sitting in the tub was just spectacular! There are a bunch of leaflets and recommendations from the owner about places to visit. We had some wonderful days out in surrounding towns, despite our sat nav wanting to continually avoid the main roads and take us down dirt tracks! Would recommend. Hide
