This charming cottage is set in a peaceful rural location and is the perfect base for a small family or two couples to explore the Southern Lake District and Cumbria coastline. Dating back to the 11th century, nearby Broughton-in-Furness (7.5 miles) has much to admire, including a pretty, cobbled square complete with an ancient horse-chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and pretty Georgian homes. The area is ideal for a walking or climbing holiday, with easy access to the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley (8 miles) and the Lake District fells. No visit to the Cumbria coast is complete without a trip to the beach with your dog, and there are few beaches as wild and beautiful as Silecroft (2.5 miles). This sand and shingle beach stretches for 3 miles and sits against the backdrop of the majestic Black Combe fell. Take a stroll along a section of the newly opened English Coast Path, which runs from Silecroft to Whitehaven, some 30 miles away, taking in the spectacular seascape along the way.
