This converted barn surrounded by the Suffolk countryside is an idyllic getaway for a group of friends or family seeking a quiet rural getaway. Located in the lavish grounds of Wattisham Hall, steeped in history and surrounded by a 12th-century moat, this property is guaranteed to deliver a break you’ll remember forever. The village of Wattisham offers a farm shop, but the closest pub is in the neighbouring village of Bildeston (2 miles).
Step inside the barn and into the large hallway. Take off your shoes and coat and make yourself at home. Continue into the characterful and homely open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge where you’ll notice the striking cathedral-style wooden beamed ceiling. On one side of the room, there is a wood burner which you can sit in front of on the comfortable sofas and warm your toes after a day of exploring the local area. Snuggle up in front of the Smart TV and watch a film with your guests. Walk across the wooden floor to the large dining table with a bench and chairs. Across the other side of the room is the ‘U’-shaped kitchen which sits on top of a stone floor. This space is neat and well organised, with plenty of surface space for making special home-cooked meals. On the ground floor, there are two bedrooms – a double and a single – and both bathrooms. One of the bathrooms has a charming cottage feel to it with a shower over the bath and a WC. The other has a shower cubicle and a WC. Climb the stairs to find two more bedrooms. Inside the spacious master bedroom, you’ll find a super-king-size bed and some unique exposed brick. The final bedroom is a twin room.
Walk through the French doors in the open-plan living area to find a fully enclosed, comfortable patio which looks out onto the moat. Fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco with your guests before treating yourself to a dip in the hot tub while admiring the views.
