Whether you are looking for a couple’s getaway, an ideal base for the family with everything within walking distance, or just somewhere to relax and watch the world go by, this tastefully refurbished maisonette in the centre of Dartmouth is for you. Historically an important naval town thanks to its natural deep-water harbour, today Dartmouth is popular with sailors and tourists alike. Home to pretty streets lined with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants serving delicious local produce, it’s easy to see why the town has become such a firm favourite. Markets are held on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the year, where you will find even more local goodies to choose from. Take the ferry to Kingswear for a journey back in time on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. Alternatively, take the ferry to the bohemian town of Totnes and discover its boutique shops and healthy-eating cafes and restaurants. The gardens and house at the National Trust’s Colaton Fishacre (4 miles) should not be missed, and for the kids, Paignton Zoo is a fascinating day out. If rain stops play, never fear, as Woodlands Family Theme Park (5 miles) is guaranteed indoor fun for all the family. Walkers won’t be disappointed either with easy access to the South West Coast Path and the dramatic moors of Dartmoor National Park, less than 20 miles away. The beautiful beach at Blackpool Sands is 4 miles away, and the sweeping Slapton Sands, backed by a unique nature reserve, is a further 3 miles beyond. The Dartmouth Royal Regatta is held every year in August, bringing sailing races, air displays, street markets, music events, and much more.

This is a home immersed in the beautiful character of the town. Climbing 19 steps to enter on the first floor of the building, you will find the delightful open-plan living area with many original features such as full-height sash windows, decorative feature fireplace and dado rail. The dining table is strategically placed by the window overlooking the streets below, the perfect place for your morning coffee and to watch the world go by. The living area is well furnished with a large corner sofa, footstool and a freestanding armchair, plenty of room for the whole family. There is also a fully-equipped, modern kitchen and a wall-mounted TV, everything you need for a cosy night in after a full day of adventure. A handy cloakroom can also be found on this floor. The second floor houses the king-size master bedroom, contemporary family bathroom and twin room. Both bedrooms benefit from river glimpses and ample storage.

Ideal spot (town is very quiet at night). Stairs are steep which didnt bother us but would not suit someone with difficulty climbing stairs.

No major issues - stairs were steep, but so are a lot of properties. Biggest issue is check in time - 5.00pm is way too late (and 10.00 check out!). I feel this is unacceptable and if that is your standard will not be booking though yiu again

Pretty good all round and a great location. We had a good time but, unfortunately, had to leave a couple of days early for personal reasons.

Superb location, very easy to find. Comfy beds, comfy seats, all you can really ask for for a short break! The apartment was toasty warm and dry despite a cold and wet February weekend.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely Christmas break at The Nest, the location is perfect and the accommodation was well equipped, warm and comfortable. The stairs are very steep (this is referenced when booking which is great), but much steeper than expected, and the bannisters on both sets are loose (maybe as these are used to stabilise you when Read morewalking up and down), we were a little worried that they would come loose. The location is absolutely perfect, but the walls, carpets and skirting boards were a little tired and scuffed which detracted from the overall look. The communication leading up to, during and after our stay from Original Cottages was superb! Hide

The Nest is ideally located in the centre of Dartmouth. There is room outside the property to pull up and unload the car without affecting the flow of traffic. There is a toilet on each floor which is ideal for day and night use. We will definitely stay at the Nest again and would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves Dartmouth.

This is a perfect holiday spot in the centre of town, close to the river. There are beautiful coves a short walk away and there is plenty to keep you occupied in town - shopping, crabbing, a visit to the outdoor pool and plenty more. Would definitely recommend a stay at The Nest.
