With its dramatic backdrop of Snowdonia, wonderful wildlife and wide sandy beaches, the Llyn Peninsula is steeped in Welsh culture that’s a joy to discover. Bask on beautiful sands at Marian-y-de, also known as South Beach (1.5 miles) and the majestic 3-mile sweep of Glan-y-Don (2 miles). Also known as Hell’s Mouth, dramatic Porth Neigwl (9 miles) is 3 miles wide and superb for surfing. Find tranquillity at Plas yn Rhiw (10.5 miles), a National Trust manor house with ornamental gardens and sublime coastal views. There are some spectacular castles in this part of Wales, from the rocky ruins of Criccieth (10 miles) to Caernarfon (22 miles) and Harlech (25 miles). Portmeirion (18 miles) is well worth a visit.
Inside the bungalow, you’ll find a bright and welcoming interior, with a sunny hall giving access to the rooms. Relax on sofas in the lounge around the log burner, watching the Smart TV or a DVD under ambient lighting; a large gallery window with views over the estate lets the light flood in during the day. Prepare fine local fare in the wide, pine-floored and streamlined kitchen/diner, with its glazed doors out onto the patio and dual-aspect windows. After days of sand and sea, history and shopping, unwind in the calming bathroom, with its retro-modern design. The dreamy double bedroom and the tranquil twin have gorgeous green views.
Spill out from the kitchen on bright mornings and balmy evenings for meals on the terrace, with its rattan furniture and BBQ. There are 6 acres of shared and well-maintained grounds to enjoy, and 100 acres of the Penmaen Estate to make your stay memorable.
