A traditional, detached farmhouse in Denbigh on the North Wales Borderlands, this holiday home is perfect for families as it’s packed with fun facilities to keep young and old entertained - not to mention the vast views of the coastline and Clwydian Hills, including Denbigh Castle. If you can pull yourself away from your private grounds and hot tub, ramble the scenic countryside surrounding your stay or visit the market town of Denbigh (3 miles) to sample traditional pubs, walk the historic walls, see the castle and browse independent cafes. Fancy a family beach day? Head to Rhyl (14 miles) to spend time on the sands or visit the SeaAquarium, which the kids will enjoy.
Settle into your charming cottage, starting with the lounge where you can get snug on the plump seating that’ll fit five or six guests. Original slate floors, oak beams above the doors and the wood burner effect electric stove in a stone fireplace create a cosy atmosphere. Take advantage of the TV and stacked bookshelves and play a round on the board games. Another great place to relax together is the large, bright conservatory with sofas and armchairs to seat eight. This space offers access to the garden and views of the coastline, hills and Denbigh castle through the surrounding windows. Prepare family dinners in the modern kitchen, which features a breakfast bar and USB charging points. Share meals either in the kitchen’s small, pleasant eating area with a large pine table and benches or in the atmospheric and traditional dining room, which boasts an oak dining table for eight, ceiling beams and an original inglenook with an ornamental stove. Dinner here comes with a side of those spectacular views. The ground floor also features a double bedroom with field views, an adjacent shower room and a utility room with a washing machine, fridge and storage space for family goods. Head upstairs to find the main bedroom: a romantic, classic double with unique features like an ornamental fireplace, stone wall and high vaulted ceilings; alongside modern luxuries including a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom with soak-worthy P-shaped bath, a shower above it and an illuminated mirror with integral Bluetooth speakers. Take peaceful moments in the cushioned window seat boasting panoramic vistas. A second first-floor bedroom, with a king-size bed that can convert into two single beds on request, also has high vaulted ceilings, a cushioned window seat and more of those views. The final bedroom is the bunk bed room, featuring USB charging options and the shower room.
Make special memories outdoors in the large, enclosed, luxury-amenities-packed front and back gardens, both strewn with shrubs and flowerbeds and with several steps throughout. There’s a framed decking area with benches and a handcrafted wooden table to sit ten, plus a BBQ
that has a hot stone for pizza-making. Dine alfresco all together as the sun sets over that magical view of the northern coastline, rolling Clwydian hills and valley, and Denbigh Castle - which you can also enjoy from the comfort of the neighbouring hanging chair and hammock. Head to the games room and challenge the family to a round on the pool table in the heated outbuilding boasting Bluetooth speakers to play your own music. It also boasts a fun bar area or kitchen with a combination oven, a sink with hot and cold water, a fridge, a collapsible table and a wine rack. Make yourself a drink and a snack as you enjoy the games room facilities. From here, you can see the children’s private, pebbled play area featuring swings and a climbing frame. The little ones will also love the magic of the fairy glen: a partly-hidden section of the garden where they’ll find stepping stones and a toadstool table. The owners have thought of everything as there’s a tiny ornamental fairy door within the cottage to add to the magic of this glen. The garden’s handcrafted arbour is a useful storage space while it also has a lover’s chair, table and drinks cooler for relaxing moments. There’s more chill-out space on the small rear patio with a circular, eight-seater picnic table that has the sun in the morning, making it an ideal breakfast spot. A highlight has to be the luxury, sunset-facing hot tub that seats six, where you can pamper with those beautiful views. There’s seating around the hot tub plus an outdoor shower with hot water for when you’re finished making special holiday memories.
