One of three cottages in a beautiful farm location, this is a wonderful rural retreat for couples wishing to get away from it all. In a great position halfway between the stylish seaside resort of Southwold with its picturesque lighthouse and colourful beach huts, and the creative hub of Aldeburgh with its boutiques and galleries, this is a great base to experience the best of Suffolk. Southwold is an easy 11-mile drive away and is a great destination for some good old-fashioned seaside fun with a touch of class. Take a romantic stroll down the pier with an ice cream for some lovely views along the seafront, visit the lifeboat museum or have some fish and chips in the great outdoors with views of the imposing lighthouse in the background. Those looking for some creative inspiration might like to browse Aldeburgh’s galleries with beautiful paintings by local artists or check out a performance or gig at the wonderful Snape Maltings creative hub just outside Aldeburgh, 9 miles away. Closer to home, Yoxford has a delightful village centre with a river and park making it a peaceful and idyllic destination. The coastal nature reserve of RSPB Minsmere, with its bird hides and wonderful coastal scenery, is located just 6 miles away and – along with other heaths, marshes, woodlands and AONBs scattered around this area of the Suffolk coast – makes this a nature lover’s paradise.
With beautiful high ceilings and exposed beams, this property is wonderfully designed and beautifully restored. The front door opens onto the large, open-plan living area with a tall ceiling giving this space a lovely light and airy feel. Bi-fold doors open out to reveal the pretty sensory garden beyond, and bathe the room in plenty of light. A bespoke, hand-built kitchen with a lovely blue colour scheme has been wonderfully equipped with all you would need to prepare a feast for two, and a good-sized dining table is a lovely spot for a cosy night in sharing a special meal. The generous sitting area is a lovely comfy spot to get together for a movie night, or to curl up and enjoy a good book. To the rear of the property lies the master bedroom – a well-presented room with a stylish contemporary feel and a glass wall separating the en-suite from the sleeping area. A king-size bed looks out over the lovely views with rolling green fields; a guilt-free lie-in should be obligatory here.
Outside, a sheltered area with a table and chairs and a sensory garden of flowers and herbs in a raised bed make this a really well-planned outdoor space. Spend a leisurely breakfast outside before setting off to explore the coast, or enjoy a peaceful night under the stars. The grounds of the Wolsey Farm include 3 acres of grassland with a fenced paddock for our 2 goats and a chicken run for four three chickens, and visitors are welcome to walk in the grounds and visit the animals and soak up nature in the beautifully landscaped Prairie Garden.
