With its stunning interiors, fabulous terrace and garden, and wonderful sea views, this picture-perfect cottage in the hamlet of Nicholaston near Oxwich offers the ideal coastal escape. Located halfway between the beautiful beach at Rhossili Bay (9 miles) and the seaside resort of Mumbles (8 miles), this cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the Gower Peninsula. Beaches abound, including the long sweep of Oxwich Bay located 2 miles downhill from the property and iconic Three Cliff Bay (1.5 miles), with the entire coastline offering several options for water sports. If you love to walk, head to Cefn Bryn behind the property, or pick up sections of the Gower Way and Wales Coast Path, while nature lovers will adore the reserve behind Oxwich Bay and the Perriswood Archery and Falconry Centre (1.5 miles). The peninsula has a number of historic and archaeological sites to explore including King Arthur’s Stone (3.5 miles) and Pennard Castle (5 miles), and if you want your urban fix the city of Swansea is just 10 miles away.

This is a wonderful two-storey cottage with touches of beauty throughout. Upon entering the porch, you’ll find a snooker table that can be converted to an additional dining table, set on a slate floor. This opens to a light and spacious lounge with a choice of soft seating, a wood burner, and a TV with SkyTV. There’s a cloakroom off the lounge, and an archway leads from the snooker table into the light and bright dining room with a large dining table, a comfortable sofa, bi-fold doors opening into the garden and unbeatable sea views. This follows into the spacious kitchen with an Aga and central island, next to the utility room and a door leading to the second downstairs cloakroom. A snug with soft seating and a TV and X-box, and an office/study complete the ground floor. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite with a bath and shower, and there are three further bedrooms, one double and two twins, each with an en-suite. All of the rooms on the first floor offer magnificent views to Oxwich Bay.

A small lawn snakes along the front of the cottage to the double garage, which has a table tennis table for indoor and outdoor use. At the back, there’s a landscaped garden with superb sea views and a patio with several seating options including an outdoor dining table.

  • 4 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 double, 2 twin bedrooms
  • 4 en-suite bathrooms – 1 en-suite with bath, walk-in shower and WC, and 3 en-suites with shower and WC, plus 2 downstairs cloakrooms

Lovely house and views. A few niggles but overall enjoyable. The option to pay a damage deposit rather than a non-refundable damage waiver should be a clear option at the booking stage.

Nicholaston is a lovely holiday cottage in a superb location overlooking the bay. A couple of minor issues but this did not detract from our holiday. The cottage is very clean and comfortable. Beautiful nearby beaches and cliff top walks. The Oxwich Bay Bistro is excellent for food & service. We would not hesitate to return.

In the main we were very pleased with our holiday property. The standard of accommodation was excellent and the location was both stunning and convenient. The keys were not left in the keysafe as they should have been and it took nearly 2 hours and several phone calls Read morebefore someone came and let us in.
