Families can enjoy a truly tranquil stay at this countryside-surrounded holiday cottage in the pretty hamlet of Llaniestyn in the scenic Llyn Peninsula (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) with an activities-packed coastline nearby so you can relax and venture out for fun: the best of both worlds. Take day trips to seaside destinations such as Llanbedrog (5.5 miles) with its National Trust-owned sandy beach, panoramic seaside cafe and headland which you can climb for excellent sea and mountain views; or Abersoch (5.5 miles), a former fishing village with a sandy beach, hireable beach huts and boat trips to the scenic nearby islands of St Tudwal’s and Bardsey when the conditions are good. Nefyn (6 miles) has a beach, harbour, maritime museum and a unique headland golf course.

Steps lead to the front door of this modern, single-storey holiday home that begins with an internal porch to hang coats and kick off flip flops. Pass through the hallway and up two steps to the open-plan living space that’s delightful and bright thanks to wooden floors, high ceilings and French doors that lead to the patio. There’s plenty of space for families in the lounge: relax on the corner sofa and switch on the TV, raid the stacked bookshelf or throw game nights using the board games. The charming dining space to the side features a five-seater pine dining table beside windows with countryside views; while the modern kitchen has shaker-style units and dark worktops. A corridor leads to the bedrooms and bathroom. The master is light and tranquil with high ceilings and a king-size bed.  Children will like the simple and homely twin bedroom, where beds are slightly smaller than standard singles so only suitable for kids. The bathroom has a shower over a bath, great for families.

A highlight of this holiday home is the raised patio area out front, accessed via the lounge. It boasts countryside views so you can dine al fresco at the picnic table in a lovely setting. There’s a large, enclosed lawned area that your dog will like, next to the driveway.

A lovely cottage set in a tranquil location but within easy reach to several beaches and places to explore. The cottage is well equipped and is light and airy with a lovely outlook so staying in on rainy days was enjoyable and relaxing.

Lovely property in a nice quite area. Excellent place to stay to enable you to explore the Llyn Peninsula. Although we didn't get the opportunity to meet the owners, Sally and Neil, they ensured that we had their contact details and advised that we could contact them if we had any problems or assistance.

It was not made clear until final instrictions that there was pedestrian access through the front garden, around the side and to the house behind. In our view this made the garden unsafe for young children and/or pet dog as gates could easily be left open by others.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the cottage is lovely and well equipped with ample parking space and nice garden. A short drive to the stunning beaches in the area and some local walks.

Perfect holiday home for a family of four! We were overwhelmed by the stunning views. Even when it rains, it still manages to captivate you. We did some wonderful hikes with the children and visited Blair castle. The kitchen has everything you need. It is just big enough, which gave us a cosy feeling. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

We stayed at Gwelfryn in August 2023, great communication before starting the holiday with Sally the owner, then arrived to spotlessly clean accommodation, with everything needed for our stay as per the description. Lovely outside and secure space for the children and dog to roam freely. Great location to a number of our favourite Beaches incluRead moreding llanbedrog (National Trust), Abersoch and Morfa Nefyn (Porthdillian) which are all within 15 minutes by car ideal location for families for a great comfortable base. Some great dog friendly pubs nearby including Y Bryncynan at Nefyn would recommend to book in busy holiday periods and the Glyn y Weddw Arms at Llanbedrog great play area and allow dogs in a covered area outside. We hope to return in 2024. Hide
