Shotesham is an idyllic village in South Norfolk, only a 45 minute drive away from the coast, enjoying a wealth of exceptional walking trails through glorious woodland and open fields. It lies approximately 5 miles from the vibrant city of Norwich so you can enjoy the best of country and city life with a stay here. When you’ve had your fill of the shops, eateries and exciting attractions of Norwich, why not savour a slower pace with a trip to the Norfolk Broads? The owner of this cottage offers a day’s skippered sailing with a picnic aboard his yacht for up to four guests, which is moored in South Walsham (17 miles), subject to availability. This is the perfect way to experience the beauty of this national park, with the chance to spot otters and a variety of birdlife.
Formerly the village’s old Post Office, this period cottage retains lots of original features, some of which date back over 300 years. On the ground floor, a relaxing lounge invites sociable evenings playing board games beside the open fire, watching films on the TV with DVD, or reading a book on the comfortable seating while the CD player or DAB radio plays in the background. An open-plan kitchen/dining room is equipped with all the culinary essentials you might need, including a built-in electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. And the dining table and chairs offer enough seating for all guests to dine together. If you need to catch up with any work during your stay, a garden room/study offers a desk, chairs and doors leading out to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom with a bath, handheld shower and WC. Climb the stairs to the first floor and choose between three charming bedrooms: a single bedroom, a double bedroom, and a second double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC. Please note the internal stairs are steep which may pose challenges for guests with limited mobility.
Outside, you can relish warm, summer evenings with a chilled drink in the cottage’s private walled garden. Steps lead up to an enclosed area of lawn, with garden furniture, a charcoal BBQ and firepit . During cooler months, why not gather around the firepit and toast some marshmallows (supply of kiln logs provided). A garage with a low ceiling houses an additional fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Unrestricted and free off-road parking is available at the church car park opposite the property.
