Discover this beautiful three-bedroom property in a tranquil, elevated location surrounded by gorgeous Welsh woodlands, ideal for anyone wanting to escape the bustle of everyday life. Spend your holiday relaxing at this property and enjoying the view, or head out into the local countryside, which is perfect for hikers, bikers, dog walkers and explorers. Ochr y Rhiw is located in the little village of Cwmllinau between the two market towns of Machynlleth (8 miles) and Dolgellau (12 miles), where you’ll find plenty of amenities, pubs, shops and historic sights. The coastline of Cardigan Bay lies 20 miles away, while the walkers' paradise of Snowdonia National Park begins 15 miles from your door.

This picturesque stone cottage retains all the charm of its rugged original features while providing homely comfort. On the ground floor, you’ll find an entranceway with ample storage for coats and walking boots and a utility space with laundry facilities. Stone steps lead down to the kitchen, a wonderful room featuring an extensive range cooker within the original inglenook. An oak dining table and two easy chairs provide ample seating beside bi-folding doors which open to the terrace. The cosy living room features oversized sofas set before a wood burner and Smart TV, the ideal place to relax after a day spent walking the woodlands. A wet room completes the ground floor, while underfloor heating throughout adds a cosy touch. Upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms, a comfortable double, a bunk room and a characterful king-size with sloping ceilings, exposed brick and beams, and beautiful country views. (please note there is only a stairgate provided at the bottom of the stairs) The shared bathroom features a walk-in shower and a statement free-standing bath ideal for soaking aching hiking muscles. And finally, six steep steps lead to a raised landing with a seating area and stunning woodland views.

Glass doors from the kitchen lead to a large, elevated terrace with beautiful views of the river and woodlands. A six-seater patio table makes this an ideal spot for al fresco dining, while the birdfeeders provide an endless source of entertainment. A path leads down to the extended grounds beside the river, where you’ll find a wooden garden shed, benches and access to footpaths across the river. An outdoor tap and hose pipe are on hand to wash off muddy boots, dogs and bikes when you return from your explorations.

Lovely cottage in peaceful, private location. Very well equipped with comprehensive instructions for appliances and safety, it was warm and cosy with comfortable beds and quality linen and towels. Lovely deck for outdoor dining, weather permitting. Kitchen equipment and crockery are extensive. including Air fryer, slow cooker and bread maker. StairRead mores are short but steep with steps up and down to bedrooms so not suitable for physically challenged and some low ceilings/doorways. Thecottage is at the bottom of a steep driveway. Hide

Lovely stay. Location was central to all our activities planned. 45-1 hr drive. Very helpful hosts if and when needed. Didnt take our dog in the end. Def the right decision for him as very hilly, steep drive and lots of steps within the cottage. Lovely area by the river. Great place to relax for the week.

The cottage has been beautifully restored and is in a perfect setting, with local amenities but feeling so calm and peaceful. It is very well equipped, and fixtures, fittings and bedding are all of great quality. We'll absolutely be staying again.

Spent a relaxing week at Ochr y Rhiw with our two dogs who loved the river and long walks every day. They were exhausted. Beautiful cottage well equipped with everything you need. I didn't even have to do washing when I got home. Good location if you're a plane spotter. 15mins from Mach loop. Torrent walk 15mins drive away. And Barmouth beachRead more is 30mins away and fish and chips from the Mermaid are the best. Hide

Absolutely perfect location for our family holiday with three grandchildren, busy days ended with playing in the stream. Those villagers that we met were extremely friendly and their Village Hall is now open for 5 per hour for snooker.sadly we were too busy dam building, but perhaps another year. Our visit coincided with the Village fun day, a perfRead moreect opportunity to enjoy whats on the doorstep, and short walks close by, plus the great tourist attractions, but mainly spectacular viewsincluding the Mach Loop being used.
