This cute bolthole for two in Stiffkey is the perfect place to switch off and relax. Spend time snuggled on the sofa by the wood burner or fire up the BBQ and enjoy an evening of al fresco dining. With an enclosed outdoor area, it’s also an ideal retreat for four-legged friends. Just 300 metres away is the village inn, which serves up delicious local mussels. The immediate area is a haven for walkers, and wildlife enthusiasts must visit the saltmarshes (0.5 miles) to admire the vast array of rare birds and plants. Heading to the coast (3 miles), you can pick up the Norfolk Coast Path, which is a great way to visit some of the region’s finest beaches and take in the dramatic scenery. If it’s retail therapy you’re after, journey to the Georgian market town of Holt (9 miles). The picturesque town has an excellent selection of independent boutiques and galleries, as well as some fabulous eateries.

The single-storey flint property enjoys a quiet location, tucked behind a row of cottages. The property has been decorated in a contemporary style, whilst retaining plenty of character and charm. The cosy lounge/diner is the ideal place to chill out at the end of a busy day, stretched out on the sofa watching the TV/DVD or reading a book, with the wood burner crackling in the background. There’s also a table and chairs by the window, for sharing romantic meals for two. An archway leads to the stylish kitchen, and through into the relaxing double bedroom, via the shower room. Decorated in cool tones, with French doors opening into the garden, it’s the perfect tranquil haven for a good night’s rest.

Outside, discover a beautiful enclosed courtyard garden with mature shrubs and climbers, as well as a table and chairs and BBQ for al fresco dining. The property is set back from the road, past a row of cottages. Compact but comfortable. A very quiet location with very friendly neighbours. The nearby Red Lion is excellent for meals and drinks. Some folks commented on access. You do not have to be Dr Livingstone to find it. We will be returning soon.

Access might be a problem, bit of a trail around other cottages, if I had realised I wouldn't have taken my easily triggered dog. Pretty area, lovely walks.

We had a lovely stay in Poppy Cottage (July 2024). The cottage has everything you need for a simple stay in beautiful North Norfolk. 5 mins walk to the saltmarsh and endless walks, 10 mins drive from The Norfolk Bottle-shop (beer and weekend pizzas)- def recommend ..... too many places to mention here the Redlion Pub is a must- Sunday lunch was Read moregreat- their midweek menu is good too- v popular The only thing to mention really is the access- this is mentioned in other reviews too- walking past the terrace cottages, 3 gates..... gets to be a bit cumbersome with luggage, shopping etc. our dog also grew to dislike the gravel (old diva greyhound) Everyone staying in the other cottages was lovely and friendly and didn't seem to mind. The lady who lives in the cottage who owns the beautiful courtyard was a great neighbour offering it to us to use, her lovely dog Inkey was super friendly and came to visit often. We had a very relaxed calm stay- just what we needed Hide

Location, location, location. 5 minute walk down to the mud flats at Stiffkey and 5 minute walk to the Red Lion. The cottage is perfectly suitable for two people, is well equipped and makes good use of the space available. The shower unit and sink are either side of the corridor connecting the kitchen and bedroom which works out fine if you close tRead morehe doors to create a bathroom area. Plenty of space for car parking on Green Way but be aware that there is a short walk past the front and around the back of a row of cottages to get to the property so no unloading straight from the car. We found the property without any problems within a lovely garden with some lovely plants a real cottage garden. Was really quiet and relaxing, the adjoining neighbours were very helpful and friendly. So close to Cley & Titchwell wildlife reserves which I really enjoyed. Would definitely consider returning for another stay.
