This pretty house is tucked away down a private driveway in the heart of the lovely village of Elham and offers the perfect accommodation for groups of friends and families wishing to explore the delights of the Kent countryside and coast. The village is set in the beautiful Elham Valley, in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which can be explored by taking one of the many footpaths close to the property. Alternatively, take a stroll through the village itself which is steeped in history with a picturesque medieval church and over 40 listed buildings. Elham has become known as a place to eat out and has been listed in the top ten prettiest villages in Kent. There are two dog-friendly historic pubs serving food, one of which is an exceptional gastro pub, a 15th century restaurant with bar, a cafe and a village shop, so there is no need to venture far from the house if you don’t wish to. For a lovely family day out, guests can take a trip to see the steam trains at the Elham Valley Railway Museum just 4 miles away or for something a little more grown up, Elham Vineyard is only 3 miles from the property. For a trip to the coast, the beautiful seaside resort of Folkstone is an easy 8-mile drive away or for a spot of culture, take the 9-mile drive in the opposite direction to historic Canterbury and see its medieval architecture including one of Britain’s oldest cathedrals

This is a spacious and comfortable holiday home which has been tastefully styled throughout, offering a wonderfully relaxing place to stay. Guests will enter the property through the hallway which leads directly to the dining area with plenty of space for guests to enjoy a meal together. This opens into the large sitting room with a wood burner set in a fantastic brick fireplace, perfect for staying cosy on cooler days. Alternatively, in the warmer months, guests can throw open the French doors leading onto the patio and garden. There is a sizable kitchen which leads to a sunny conservatory, with wonderful views over the garden and of the village church. There is also a utility room in the garage and a cloakroom with a WC. Carpeted stairs from the hallway lead to the first floor. Here you’ll find a king-size bedroom with a TV, air-conditioning and en-suite shower room. There is also a super-king-size room with a zip-and-link bed, which can be arranged as a twin if requested. This room also offers a Juliet balcony with French doors. Finally, there is a pretty twin room full of country cottage charm, and a family bathroom.

Outside, there is a beautifully maintained, enclosed garden with an upper patio area and a lower paved seating area with additional garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ. There is also a small garden pond and a greenhouse.

A real home from home, the cottage has everything for a comfortable stay. Plenty of space, lovely garden, lounge and conservatory both opening onto patio, outdoor seating, beautifully kept, spotless bathrooms. I could go on. The only things to perhaps note are (1) that the front bedroom wardrobes are not available for use and (2) the property is seRead moremi-detached, which we didnt realise from the details. This was not a problem. We couldnt hear a sound from next door and most of the living space is far from the party wall. However, if you have a particular desire to be detached (we have autistic children who can be very loud so try not to be a nuisance to neighbours) this may be a point for consideration. All in all, this is a really delightful place to stay. Hide
