This lovely cottage is the perfect place for a holiday getaway, with wonderful coastal walks in both directions, and attractions to explore on the doorstep. It is one of four converted former farm cottages set in 13 acres of countryside on the outskirts of Trefin (1 mile). The historic little seaside village has pretty painted houses overlooking a small beach, a cafe and a pub, where you can enjoy delicious local produce, including crabs and fish from neighbouring Porthgain. St Davids (8.5 miles) holds the title of Britain’s smallest city and is famous for its magnificent medieval cathedral. Visit this historic building and wander through the beautiful grounds and ruins of the Bishop’s Palace, where grazing sheep and cattle help to conserve the ancient landscape. There are shops, cafes, and galleries in the charming city centre, and you can discover more about this fascinating corner of Pembrokeshire in the impressive Oriel Y Parc Gallery and Visitors’ Centre. Just outside St Davids, Whitesands Bay is a vast, sandy beach with surging waves for surfers and calmer waters at the southern end for swimming and exploring rock pools. Discover a centuries-old tradition that is still thriving at Melin Tregwynt, a whitewashed mill in a hidden valley at Castle Morris (5 miles). Tour the mill to see Welsh woollens such as throws and blankets which have been woven here since the 17th century.

The impressive and roomy, open-plan interior is full of character, featuring some of the original, thick stone walls painted white, and original beams in the kitchen, along with more recent ceiling beams in the dining area. An extra-large window makes this a wonderfully light and airy space, with an elegant wooden dining table that seats eight guests and a stylish reclining chair. A small, deep-set window from the original cottage enhances the atmosphere of the cosy living area. It is also spacious and comfortably furnished, with two inviting leather sofas and a matching armchair on which you can curl up in front of the TV or plan tomorrow’s adventure. There are two steps up to the galley kitchen, fitted with simple, country-style units and there is a ground-floor cloakroom with a WC. An elegant steel and wood spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine floor with a gallery and a comfortable double bedroom. This is simply furnished, with a wooden floor and built-in cupboards, together with a TV and rooflight with a wonderful view of the sea. An en-suite bathroom completes the accommodation.

Outside, a seating area with picnic benches by the side of the cottage has another lovely sea view, and there is also a shared garden with a lawn and play equipment for young children.

Enjoyed my stay at the barn. Excellant location for coastal walks. The barn was very comfortable, clean, spacious and well equipped. Hosts were brilliant immediately sorting a power outage problem created by myself, providing a welcome pack and local information. Dog friendly too.

Quiet cottage, which has steps going into and in the cottage itself, which shouldnt be a problem for able bodied people. Very peaceful, with beautiful surroundings. Under floor heating kept things warm and cosy, when thermostats were turned up, as directed in the information folder. We found everything comfortable and in good order. Lovely cottage in an area good for walking. Kitchen is fully equipped and there is plenty of space downstairs, there are a few floor level changes with deep steps. The bedroom is on the mezzanine and accessed by a spiral staircase which is open on to the bedroom. The bed was too soft for us and the shower arrangement is not good. The TV is apps onlRead morey but is all logged in so you dont need your own accounts. Outside there is a lovely grassy area. Nothing is fenced so you need to have the dog on a lead if it is a flight risk! Would recommend if the upstairs issues were addressed. Hide

Tastefully decorated & very spacious for 2. The recliners added some luxury & comfort for watching the tv in the evening. The field outside was ideal for the dog to run around in. We hope to visit again.
