This is truly a one-of-a-kind property! Each floor houses a different living space and the views from the very top are spectacular. The delights of the North York Moors are on your doorstep and you have a pretty little garden too. This historic windmill is set in the traditional village of Kirkbymoorside, gateway to iconic Farndale in the North York Moors National Park – the display of daffodils here in the spring are spectacular. Explore the town’s gift and antique shops as well as independent cafes, pubs and hotels; two lovely delis and a bakery will ensure you can easily get all the ingredients for some home-cooked Yorkshire fare. Helmsley is 6 miles away and has shops, a castle and a bustling market square; Pickering and the famous North York Moors Steam Railway is 7 miles away.
The windmill is set over four floors, with each level separated by 12 steep steps. Enter the front door and find a small hallway – a handy place to store muddy boots and coats – and the cosy lounge with beamed ceilings and a Smart TV, books and games. From here, a door leads out onto the patio. On the first floor is the kitchen/dining room with views over the rooftops of Kirkbymoorside and a bathroom with a shower. A pretty bedroom with a king-size bed is on the next floor and after that there is a single bedroom with cute vintage furniture. The top floor features the fabulous original herringbone domed ceiling and has, as you can well imagine, spectacular views. A day bed folds out as needed and there’s a hanging seat here too. Children would need to be supervised in this room as there’s an open rail that leads to the steep staircase.
Outside a large shed can provide secure storage for bikes and has a BBQ and outdoor furniture that guests are encouraged to make use of in sunny weather. It also houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.
