This cheery home-from-home has original beams and a wood burner as well as a thoroughly modern kitchen and bathroom – just what you need for the perfect holiday stay. Made from traditional Yorkshire brick, this spacious property is set in the centre of the popular village of Sleights in the Esk Valley. A family-run bakery and butchers are both within half a mile of the house and there’s also a general store, a tearoom and a pub in the village. The Esk Valley Railway runs from one end of the village and has regular trains to the historic seaside town of Whitby, 4 miles away, and, on occasion, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs steam trains between Whitby and Glaisdale. There are excellent links to Whitby by train or bus.
Enter the house from the front door and find a porch with hooks to hang coats and space to store muddy boots. The lounge features ceiling beams and a wood burner in an exposed brick inglenook surround and there are also the remnants of a cast-iron bread oven set into the wall. If you’re musical, there’s an electric organ that you’re welcome to play! Double-glazed patio doors open out onto a flagstone terrace with views across the valley. The kitchen has a breakfast bar as well as a door out onto the patio. Double doors lead from the lounge to the spacious dining room, and a staircase leads to the first floor. Here, you will find a bathroom with a shower over the bath and next to it, a front-facing master bedroom with a king-size bed and an en-suite WC. There is also a rear-facing double bedroom, a twin with ornamental feature fireplace and traditional beams and a single room on this floor.
To the rear of the property is an extensive patio ideal for sitting out and taking in the countryside views. From here, steps lead down to a lower lawned area with additional seating.
