A delightful cottage in a picturesque village surrounded by a stunning national park, this two-bedroom retreat is ideal for couples or friends to share as they explore the delights of this beautiful area. The peaceful village of Askrigg has a population of around 500 people, but though it’s small, it has plenty of history. It starts with the Vikings who gave the town its name and passes through the Industrial Revolution when it was a hub of the country's textile industry. In recent times, Askrigg found fame in the TV adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small. Its proximity to the Yorkshire Dales National Park makes it an excellent base for hiking, cycling, and horse-riding holidays, while its location in Upper Wensleydale should appeal to cheese lovers. Visit the nearby market town of Hawes (5 miles) to see the home of the famous cheese.

Step inside this homely cottage and into the brightly lit entranceway. Take a seat on the handy bench to kick off your walking boots before heading through to the spacious lounge and dining room. This comfortable room enjoys plenty of natural light from the double-aspect windows and has a wood burner to warm you on chilly evenings. Continue into the kitchen, smartly fitted with black marble work surfaces and a deep Belfast sink with a view. Upstairs, you’ll find the two bedrooms, one double room with a bedside table, corner shelves and drawers and one king-size with an oak bed frame, matching furniture and a sofa beside the window. A fully tiled bathroom with a shower over the bath and a large heated towel rail completes the floor.

At the front of this property is a bench with a lovely view of the church and its grounds. It's a wonderful place to sit with a morning coffee and plan your day.
