Property code: OC-SMITHC

A Grade II-Listed, two-storey bijou cottage in the heart of a charming Devonshire village with a pristine beach which is perfect for couples or a small family who are seeking a coastal retreat. Escape to the idyllic village of Croyde for a holiday conveniently close to an array of independent shops, surf stores and wonderful eateries serving up local produce while also being beside a large sandy beach. Bring your surfboards for Croyde's world-renowned waves or your walking boots to explore the scenic coastline and moorland in the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Walk through the tidy front courtyard to reach the steps to the front door of this charming stone-fronted cottage. Stepping inside, you’ll be captivated by the characterful traditional elements and stylish, modern touches which run throughout the entire property. In the open-plan living/dining room, look up to admire the wooden beamed ceiling which is complimented by the pale neutral-toned furniture, soft carpet and painted walls. Your attention will be drawn to the cosy Charnwood wood burner with elegant tiling behind it. Snuggle up on the sofa while watching a movie with your guests as the fire crackles and glows. At the other end of the room, next to the cottage-style windows and a textured, white-painted stone wall, is a wooden dining table and some chairs, for enjoying a home-cooked meal. The kitchen is accessed through the living room and is a bright and homely space with farmhouse-style wooden countertops. Keep an eye out for the truly unique feature in this room – which is a glass-covered original well on the floor by the sink area. Climb the stairs to reach the first floor, where you’ll discover two bedrooms and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. The master bedroom is a romantic space with elegant touches, such as the chandelier. Inside the second bedroom, there is a double bed and a quirky high bunk bed for a child.

Outside the front of the property is a sheltered, paved courtyard which is an excellent tranquil space for dining alfresco.

Lovely cottage and great location. Some kindling and paper for the log burner would have been great.

A cosy home from home cottage set in a wonderful location. A small walk to Croyde Bay and an even smaller walk to the lush Thatch Pub. We have had the most relaxing Christmas at the Smithy. Kitchen was fully equipped with good quality utensils. Everything was that you needed which made our even more enjoyable. Highly recommended

Smithy cottage was lovely! Weve been to Croyde many times before so we knew the area well, the cottage was super clean and very cosy with the log fire. As others have said in the reviews, the shower isnt great but its hot and clean! The courtyard is nice but it does open straight onto the road so if you have a dog then this is something to be awareRead more of, the kitchen is really well equipped with milk left in the fridge for us along with coffee and tea and lovely biscuits. A great little cottage in a fab location Hide

Great location - a bit dark inside - probably due to it raining every day!

Small but adequate cottage in the beautiful village of Croyde, be mindful of the busy road as you walk straight out from the property.

The Smithy is a cute, quirky ( the well in the kitchen, ovens in the fireplace etc.) cottage in Croyde village, excellently positioned close to the local pub, The Thatch (lovely place to eat and drink.) and to the beach. There is a parking space behind the cottage, which is a bonus. There is a little courtyard and gated area so you can sit outside Read morebut as we came at the coldest and stormiest part of Jan, we were not able to use it, instead, we stayed cosy indoors watching tv. Disappointed that the washer was not also a dryer as it was stated but we did find a clothes horse upstairs to dry out clothes. The washing machine was also the only manual which was not inside the property manual! The shower was also very temperamental bring very hot then cold, being hot to the point you could not stand under it.
