Converted to provide beautifully furnished accommodation for up to five guests, this reverse-level cottage boasts a large open-plan living space on the first floor to take advantage of the views. And with the glorious sandy beach and magnificent castle of Bamburgh less than 2 miles away, this is the perfect base for families or friends to enjoy a coast and countryside holiday. Take the short drive, or a gentle walk, down country lanes to the village where you can find shops, cafes, and pubs. Step through centuries of history at Bamburgh Castle as you walk through its treasure-filled staterooms, and the glorious King’s Hall. Play a round of golf at the local links course, 3 miles, or enjoy a day on the beautiful dune-backed beach. Visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, 17 miles to the north. This pint-sized island, famous for being the first place in Britain to be invaded by the Vikings when they landed here in 793 AD, is now home to a range of pubs, cafes, and gift shops, as well as Lindisfarne Castle and the ruins of the ancient priory. Take a drive down to Seahouses, 3.5 miles, and join one of the many boat trips that run from its busy fishing harbour out to the nearby nature-filled Farne Islands, home to puffins and grey seals.
Head through the front door into the entrance hallway, where there is space to put your outdoor coats and shoes, and a glazed door that leads out to the garden. On this floor, find the master bedroom, with a king-size bed, en-suite shower room, and French doors leading to the garden. There is also a super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (can be arranged as a twin on request), a single bedroom, and the family bathroom. Take the stairs up to the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space – fitted and furnished in a contemporary style. The vaulted beamed ceiling and wide windows create a light and airy space. Sit down on one of the two comfortable sofas and take in the wonderful view of the countryside, with the stunning backdrop of Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands beyond. Dine at the table for six, next to double glass doors that open to reveal a Juliet balcony, and enjoy the sunset. Breakfasts can be taken at the table or at the handy breakfast bar in the kitchen area.
Outside, make the most of the south-west-facing, enclosed rear garden with its terraced and lawned areas, and a range of garden furniture for relaxing and al fresco dining.
