Property code: OC-DCELM

This cosy hideaway for two is tucked in a sleepy hamlet 4.5 miles from Chesterfield, offering marvellous views, elegant interiors and a crackling wood burner for chilly evenings. Discover the rugged landscape from the comfort of your doorstep, enjoying local walks through the Linacre Valley and pausing for picnics against a rolling backdrop of hills. Chesterfield boasts plenty of shops, eateries and attractions including an iconic crooked spire church, but a short 4 mile drive will bring you to historic sites such as the Chatsworth Estate and Bolsover Castle. Bakewell is within easy reach, just 7 miles away, where you can meander through the pretty streets admiring the architecture and sampling some Bakewell Pudding.

Delightful from the outset and finished in a studio style, this romantic retreat is stylish and comforting. Quarry tiles underfoot, elegant furniture and a wood burner set the scene in the open-plan living space, inviting you to pull up a recliner and sink back with your favourite drink in hand. There is a TV and DVD player for entertainment, and the compact yet excellently-equipped kitchen area has everything you need to whip up delicious meals, plus a quirky breakfast bar with stools. Moving through to the bedroom, you’ll find a king-size bed and pretty furniture, but this can be configured as a twin on request. Completing the property is a bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside, the small garden has a gravel patio that’s encircled by wildflowers, providing a peaceful spot for your first coffee of the day.

Lovely little cottage in a great location and some lovely walks right from the door. The local church is worth a visit. The Fox and Goose pub just 15 minutes walk away serves great food and beer, its a shame its only open from Thursday through Sunday.

An excellent rural location, peaceful whilst being within easy reach of places for picking up food. The cottage is well equipped, warm, with a comfortable bed, the host is friendly and had provided everything needed for the stay, and all at a very competitive price...

The cottage was very pleasant. There is an enclosed garden area but you need to go out of the cottage front door and through a gate on the side. The garden isn't accessible through the cottage and the road has a lot of fast moving traffic at times! The bed is enormous and so comfy. Chairs are comfortable too in the sitting room, TV was fine, smallRead more but we weren't there to watch TV. Everything you needed in the kitchen area. We thought the property is in a good location but we had difficulty seeing the entrance. Best to reverse in and drive out slowly. Might benefit from a mirror on the main road as my wife had to get out and check the traffic. We'd recommend this property with reservations for dog owners. Hide

Elm Croft was exactly what we were expecting from the advert. The owner gave helpful directions on how to find the cottage the day before our stay. The location was good for visiting the Peak District. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The complimentary Granola Slices were a lovely surprise on our arrival.

The cottage was beautiful. We had days out to Matlock Bath, and Bakewell. We sat in the garden area listening to the birds. Just lovely and relaxing stay.

Exceptionally clean and well equipped. However the small, private garden was overgrown and lack a gate to prevent access to a small but fast road. Message from the Owner: Thank you for your feedback. The small garden area has now been enclosed for the benefit if guests, particularly those with pets.
