Property code: OC-DCCUR

Tucked away on a pretty side street in the quiet hamlet of Windmill is this beautiful stone property, a real treat for couples looking for a rural bolthole. Take one of the many walking trails from doorstep to explore the rolling hills, streams and rivers, rock formations and lofty views in the area. The Monsal Trail is just under 10 miles away, offering a wonderful 8-mile bike trail created from a disused railway line and superb views from Monsal Head. Go on an adventure to find the hidden caves of Robin Hood high up at beautiful Stanage Edge, 9 miles away, or head to Bakewell town, 8 miles distant, to try one of its famous puddings. Visit one of the many beautiful inns in the villages in the area for a lunchtime treat with a view and take in the wonderful fresh air as you make your way back home through the wonderful scenery.

Enjoy the surrounding scenery and beautiful views over rolling dales and drystone walls with sheep all around. The large lounge is a wonderful spot to get cosy in the evenings with comfy seating in front of the TV and a wood burner in a gorgeous stone fireplace as the centrepiece. Beamed ceilings give the room a feeling of extra height and there are also some lovely, exposed wood beams above the windows, adding to the traditional look. A small table and chairs sit in the corner of this light-filled room. The characterful galley kitchen has plenty of rural charm. Upstairs, a pretty bedroom with a delightful iron bed, a TV, and wonderful old wooden doors is a glorious place to wake up in the morning, with views of the wonderful scenery surrounding the property. The beautifully presented bathroom is light, bright, and spacious and offers the choice between a relaxing soak in the cast iron bath or a refreshing shower in the separate cubicle.

Sit back with a morning coffee or enjoy a meal outside on the gravelled patio, which is also the perfect spot for some stargazing on a clear night.

If you want a small cottage for 2 max nowhere in particular surrounded by the Derbyshire Dales, this is the cottage for you. We had horrid weather (it was December!) but still had to walk out with the dog. Cottage was comfortable but has electric storage heaters with a wood burner for chilly evenings. This might not suit everyone.

Had a lovely stay at the cottage. Everything we required was here. Such a beautiful area that we greatly enjoyed, visiting little villages and then towns of Bakewell and Buxton. We would like to return to Curlew Cottage and the Peak District. Thank you Abi & Russell.

Thank you both for the warm welcome and the use of your lovely cottage. A brilliant location- so much to discover- our favourites being Chatsworth, Eyam and Litton Mill. Lots of lovely pubs to enjoy too! See you again.

Weve really enjoyed our stay at Curlew Cottage! Lovely and spacious and in a super location for walking and meals out. Sunday lunch at the Queen Anne Inn was wonderful. The service and standard of food (as well as the fabulous views) from the Barrel Inn at Bretton were excellent. We will definitely look at returning in the not too distant future. All very good a very enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage. Clean and comfortable and in a perfect location for exploring all the peaks have to offer. The only slight dip in scores was 4 for accuracy of description on your website as it stated there was a dishwasher in the property and there wasnt? It was no bother to us, but it should not be on thRead moree description if it is not there. Also the slight dip of score to a 4 for equipment, perhaps another baking tray or two would have been useful and another oven mitt as there was only one, but again nothing major and all good. Would love to return to Curlew. Thank you for a great stay. Hide
