This lovely cottage (one of two adjoining the owners' impressive farmhouse) has been created out of an old barn and is set in the small village of Taddington, one of England’s highest at over 1,000 metres above sea level, with quaint cottages, farmhouses, a church and a pub. The Limestone Way is just one of many walking routes that pass through the village, and the remains of the Five Wells chambered cairn, thought to be the highest megalithic tomb in Britain, is set just west of the village. Taddington is between historic Buxton (9 miles) which has thermal springs and a magnificent opera house, and the market town of Bakewell (7 miles), home of the famous pudding and a scenic destination in its own right.

The quaint interior of the cottage showcases original features such as the stone flagged floor and ceiling beams as well as lovely wooden doors and quality furnishings. The spacious lounge has a leather sofa and flame-effect electric fire as well as a TV, and the adjoining kitchen has views across the fields and a pine table and chairs. An open staircase leads up to the bedroom, the showpiece of the house, which has a king-sized bed, a sofa, a TV and more lovely views. The en-suite bathroom features a corner shower and bath.

Breakfast on the secluded patio and share your crumbs with the wild birds; strike out to walk the surrounding fields if you’re feeling energetic.

This property is exceptionally well-presented, clean, classy and comfortable and set in a peaceful countryside location. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and at ease. After travelling over several years to cottages and farmstays in England, we rate this cottage among the very best of them.

We had a wonderful stay at the church view cottage in Taddington. The landlords are really nice people and the cottage was peaceful, with quiet neighbors, including the sheeps in the field close to there. We spend xmas at the cottage and J. nicely had made the cottage christmassy. We had everything we needed there in a not that small space, it's Read moreactually well enough for a couple of people. The bathroom is just great, the bed very comfortable, everything was just beautiful, cozy, convenient. We'd deffo stay there again. The area is amazing and Derby, Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Chesterfield are quite close ! A lot of good walks to do in the area, the moors are super beautiful to see and there are a lot of great landmarks in the area. Go ahead and book, you won't be disappointed. Hide

I highly recommend this lovely and beautifully appointed cottage. The hosts are lovely & the sheep out the back door add a special touch. The location is so convenient for walks, the Monsal trail & several really good pubs. We plan to stay here again.

Thje property was all we expected and more - so spacious for a one bedroom cottage and so lovely and cool in the heatwave last week due to being an old stone property (so glad we weren't camping)! We also had a private garden with lovely garden furniture. Waking up in the morning to a view across the fields from the bedroom window was such a treat Read moreas we live in a small town. The owners were very kind and helpful and gave us advice on eating out in the local area. Hide
