A romantic bolthole for two, this one-bedroom cottage is an idyllic escape. It sits just outside the hillside village of Kirk Ireton and is surrounded by stunning countryside views as far as the eye can see. The nearest town, Wirksworth, is 3 miles away and here you will find lots of picture-postcard buildings and narrow lanes full of history. There are also plenty of attractions including the Wirksworth Heritage Centre, The Northern Light Cinema and Bar, plus Alport Heights – perfect for a romantic picnic with a view. More traditional days out can be enjoyed in and around the Peak District, perhaps exploring Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall or venturing out to Hardwick Hall. But make sure you get back in time for a 'real ale' from the jug in the Barley Mow before a last glass or two in the cottage garden under a canopy of stars.
The property is set out all on one level. You enter the open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen with a vaulted beamed ceiling. Take a seat on one of the leather sofas, light the wood burner and settle in for a night in front of the TV/DVD. A compact, modern, fully equipped kitchen offers everything needed for a self-catering stay, while a table and chairs offers the perfect spot to dine. The next room is the cosy bedroom with a wood-framed king-size bed, built-in hanging space and a chest of drawers. You then have the shower room with a spacious shower cubicle and WC.
The garden is a wonderful place to relax, with a lawn and table and chairs and far-reaching views. The surrounding scenery is tranquil and full of nature.
