Belper is located at the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, with still-evident Industrial Revolution links including a historic mill, quaint cottages and cobbled roads. This thriving market town promises a true shopping experience, with a wealth of friendly independent local stores, artisan bakeries and farmers’ markets offering something to suit all tastes, and a relaxed evening atmosphere with venues that include micropubs and an independent Art Deco cinema. Other attractions nearby range from the magnificent Chatsworth House (18 miles) to the Crich Tramway Village (5 miles) and, on the edge of the Peak District, Matlock Bath (9 miles) with its Heights of Abraham cable cars and Little Switzerland gorge.

This traditional family house is in the sleepy village of Windley, surrounded by countryside and just 5 miles from Belper. Ideal for a group getaway, it offers a choice of social spaces, with a large sitting room boasting garden views and a cinema room setup or a cosy lounge with comfortable seating and an open fire, which will add a warm glow on cooler nights. There’s a wonderful traditional kitchen with a quarry-tiled floor and wood burner, plus a breakfast table and chairs, while for more formal mealtime gatherings, there’s a separate dining room. A conservatory at the rear of the property offers additional seating space and the ground floor layout is completed by a utility room and cloakroom. Upstairs, each of the four bedrooms – two doubles and two twins – have traditional bedsteads and furnishings. There are also two bathrooms, each with a roll-top bath and a separate shower cubicle.

Outside, there are extensive terraced gardens separated by stone steps, with outdoor furniture and cottage-style planting, and a trampoline.

If you like a quiet area with outstanding views in the garden, this is the place for you. Plenty of space and a good spot to be able to explore. Only consider if you have a car. The Owner has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable for all ages. Would definitely visit again.

We felt that it was adequate but shabby. The property needs a lot of maintenance

The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and there were many places we could relax. The garden was beautiful and the views stunning. It was just a short walk (1 mile) to an excellent pub. Perfect location for a weekend away

Woodside is a beautiful, characterful family property. We found it warm, comfortable and well-equipped with plenty of space and provision for everyone from Granny to the grandsons!

A simply fantastic house in a very peaceful village in Derbyshire. The views from the property are unspoilt and we felt very private. There are lots of nice touches around the house in terms of entertainment for example there is a home theatre projector in the main living room which connects to a proper stereo system for a truly sensational cinematRead moreic experience. This was in addition to a large TV in the smaller lounge. An acoustic guitar was also a nice touch. The Tiger Inn just a short walk up the lane was superb with a lovely menu and very friendly staff, highly recommended. We will definetly be back! Hide

The cottage was fabulous and we soon felt at home. We loved the location, original features and furniture, stunning garden and views. The cottage was a little tricky at first for my elderly parents to navigate but by day 3 (sadly our last day) they had worked out where the steps and lumps and bumps were. Other than we would have wished for more garRead moreden furniture, we thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and will certainly recommend it to others. The communication from Original Cottages at every step of the booking has been excellent. Hide
