Discover this comfortable, quaint cottage in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, surrounded by beautiful scenery, tourist attractions, and walking trails. With three bedrooms and lovely outdoor space, this property will appeal to families or friends wanting a rural base for exploring the area. It is located in Hardraw, a picturesque village filled with traditional cottages and home to Hardraw Force, England's largest single-drop waterfall. Hardraw is well placed for exploring the many delights of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and several walking trails and cycle routes start within the village. Less than 2 miles away is Hawes (1.5 miles), the home of world-famous Wensleydale cheese, where you can explore the factory, museum and visitor centre.

This beautiful dales cottage is a warm and comfortable home which has retained many of its traditional features such as flagstone floors, beamed ceilings and exposed brick walls. The entrance hall is a lovely mixture of wood and stone and offers storage for walking boots and outdoor wear, before you step up the two stairs into the kitchen dining room. This light room, tastefully decorated with sage units, cream appliances, and wooden surfaces, is a lovely room to cook and dine in. The living room is a cosy place to retreat to on chilly evenings with large plush sofas and a feature wood burner. Large windows offer beautiful views of the river and garden. Four steps take you to a bedroom with bunk beds suitable for children and a shower room with a rainforest shower and WC. Climb the nine stairs to the first floor, where you’ll find two double bedrooms with brick feature walls and lovely countryside views. The bathroom features a shower over a freestanding bath, and a window that offers stunning views as you bathe.

Outside this property is a private terrace with a table and chairs offering stunning views over fields and farmland. The cottage grounds lead to the river, where it's possible to set up a table and chairs for an idyllic lunch beside the water.

Rose Cottage in Hardraw is delightful, charming and unspoilt. Its position next to the river, by the bridge, is idyllic. The proximity of the tea rooms opposite and the excellent Green Dragon pub just a few doors down, was a lovely surprise and a big advantage. Hardraw Falls are located in a picturesque gorge, accessed from behind the pub via a shoRead morert walk. We we fortunate to meet a lovely elderly couple who were staying nearby who have been staying at Rose Cottage since the 1970s and who knew a lot about the history of the house, the Metcalf family who originally owned and it and the history of the area and local community. Staying in April, made our stay even more memorable, the fields are full of new born lambs which came right up to the edge of the garden most evenings. We saw red squirrels and lots of different birds, including a visiting heron. The cottage is simply but tastefully furnished and comfortable. Paintings and prints by local artists such as Piers Brown hang on the walls and the wood burning stove is super efficient. Sticks and firefighters are provided and we thought it a very nice touch that you can help yourself to a stack of logs located outside the front door in return for a self-determined donation. We felt the cold a bit, probably because of the uncarpeted original stone floors and left 20 in the honesty box. A small observation rather than a criticism (because it didnt in any way spoil our stay) is that the mattresses in all rooms appear to be past their best. I was aware of the mattresses springs pinching somewhat and other family members said the same about their beds. I felt certain that the owner would like know about this - probably the most important thing you can provide your wearisome holiday guests with is a good nights sleep and comfortable beds are paramount. We had our 14 month old daughter with us. The cottage isnt ideal for toddlers because of a change of level or two on the ground floor which meant we had to watch her at all times. The carpeted stairs are a little uneven, steep and difficult to manage for the elderly. The recent addition of a stair rope has certainly helped but I would mention this as a cautionary item for small children and the infirm. A little more information in the visitor file would be helpful, especially on how the Nest thermostat works, (which rather defeated me) and some of the information especially regarding refuse collection and recycling was a little out of date. But these are really tiny criticisms or observations rather. They didnt really detract from our stay which was happy and memorable. We would love to stay again and have already begun recommending Rose Cottage to friends. Thank you for a lovely stay. Well be back. Hide

Lovely cottage in a great location, just a short walk (1 minute) to the village pub, which does reasonable food (though not very friendly and need to book). Cottage is a nice mix of old and new. Lovely modern bathrooms, good towels and linen, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, but slightly tricky stairs. Generous welcome pack with milk, tea, Read morebiscuits etc. Great wood burner, but bring your own logs/kindling as the logs provided only last a couple of nights. Lounge is a bit small and would be cramped with more than 2-3 adults. Heating and hot water worked well and good to have a washing machine - though a washer - dryer would be helpful. Very quiet and peaceful, next to small river and view to the rear across fields. Good value for money. As mentioned in comments to the owners, the exit onto the road from the steep drive is dangerous. Might be OK if two people and someone stands in the road, but as I was on my own I had to drive out blind. I ended up parking the car in the village and walking to and from the cottage, which was inconvenient. Other than that an excellent property and stay. I would definitely come again, especially if the drive issue is fixed. Hide

Beautiful cottage near a babbling brook and a short walk to the Green Dragon pub. Steep driveway was not a problem for us but you need a banksman to guide you onto the road as it's blind in both directions. Loved our stay and may return.
